"I called George for a quote ,and he came to give a quote the same day. George ,and his team did an excellent job remediating the mold in my basement. The workers were courteous, professional, and hard working. George said that they would begin on a Tuesday ,and be done by Friday ,and thats exactly how it went. In addition to remediating the mold, they removed the ceiling sheetrock in 3 rooms. The cleanup and removal of the sheetrock was seemless. George worked hand in hand with my insurance company , and we were able to get reimbursed for the whole project. I would highly recommend AMS Restoration/ American Mold Solutons to anyone in need of mold removal."

"We can’t begin to say enough about Ray and Aerotek. They literally saved my son and daughter-in-law from a house they bought that was filled with mold, toxic mold. Aerotek was so professional, and so empathetic throughout the entire process. They were constantly updating us on the job, sending photos and videos, and getting the home back to a top level of cleanliness so that they could finally start to move forward. The Crew was careful, respectful, and diligent in getting this house, cleaned and rid of mold. There aren’t enough words to say how grateful we are to Ray, and what a kind man, and honest contractor he is. If you need mold remediation, you should look no further than Aerotek and Ray. You also won’t beat his prices anywhere, which is only a bonus next to all of his other attributes."

Biohazard Remediation questions, answered by experts

While you can attempt to remove mold from ductwork using a mixture of water, baking soda, and laundry detergent, flexible ducts are fragile and may tear when you scrub at the mold to remove it. If you suspect mold is growing in your flexible ductwork, it’s best to contact a professional for help.

Exterior paint contains a higher level of VOCs, which can be dangerous if you’re exposed to it for a long period of time. The good news is that paint’s toxicity reduces significantly once fully dried and cured. Do not keep open exterior paint cans in your home, basement, or garage, exposing your household to harmful chemicals over time.

Yes, a ceiling leak is considered an emergency. Even a small leak can indicate a larger problem that could lead to significant water damage, compromise your home's structural integrity, and become a major expense. Large leaks can cause your ceiling to sag or even collapse.

If water is actively dripping or running down walls, it is a clear emergency. You should call an emergency plumber immediately. While waiting for professional help, place buckets under the leak, use towels to absorb water, and move furniture out of the way to prevent damage.

Even if you only see a water stain that isn't actively dripping, it's still important to investigate and repair the source to prevent future damage, although the situation is less urgent than an active leak.

When used in the correct quantity and with the right procedures, boric acid will produce fumes with limited to no toxicity. You’re more likely to experience adverse side effects from boric acid toxicity by accidentally ingesting it or touching it with bare skin. All the same, wearing an air-filtering mask is a good way to keep even minorly toxic fumes out of your system. Don’t forget gloves, too!

The answer depends on the size of your home, the type of mold, and your ventilation systems. However, the best answer would be no, you shouldn’t stay in your home. Arrange to be away from your home during the mold remediation process, as mold is often most dangerous when it’s being removed due to the particles being released into the air. Some contractors won’t proceed with the remediation if you or other household members are in the home.
