"The carpet looks good. The installers did a good job. They also cut the bottom of some doors due to the carpet rubbing on the bottom of the door. This cost extra and was paid directly to the installers. Both Bogart Carpet and the installers were easy to work with. They kept commitments on scheduling."

"William was excellent, fast, and left the place spotless. Refinished hardwood floors like the pro he is. We especially liked his presentation of the stain choices applied to the freshly sanded floor. Great job - highly recommend. Not only a floor specialist, William is an excellent handyman - for a very reasonable price, we rehired him to hang 75 inch TV on wall."

"What a fantastic team! Our project was handled remotely with impressive professionalism by Nara, the office manager, and Rodrigo, the business owner. We were in the process of moving from Tennessee, and wanted hardwoods installed in three bedrooms and all hardwoods sanded and refinished. The result, after seeing stain options via cell phone pics and realizing we needed to give full control of the process to Rodrigo, was absolutely stunning. I could not have asked for a better team of people to work with, or more beautiful and seamless dark hardwood floors! I would not hesitate to contact them for future jobs, and would give TrueWay my highest recommendation. Outstanding.

Floor Sanding FAQs, answered by experts

This is fairly rare, but sometimes the local government or a group like a historical society will label a tree as a landmark, or historical item. These designations almost always come with a small, on-site plaque for identification, but you should also be able to look up protected trees in your area on a city website or similar list. If the tree in question is a landmark, call your local government and ask how to proceed before making any plans.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

A land survey defines and records the physical aspects of a property, including its boundaries, dimensions, easements, features, and sometimes topographical information. In contrast, a land appraisal determines the property's monetary value. While an appraiser will often consult a land survey to understand the property's physical specifications, the survey itself does not determine the land's value.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

The small lines on the tape measure either indicate inches, fractions of an inch, or centimeters and millimeters. On the imperial unit side (aka the inches side), the longest lines indicate inches, followed by the next shortest lines that indicate a half-inch, and then the quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-inch. On the metric side, the lines break down meters, centimeters, and millimeters.
