"Josh and his crew did an exceptional job. I hired him to remove 9 trees in my yard to clear way for a pool installation. Additionally they removed approximately 300' of chain link fence. They were timely in starting the work. Arrived at the time we agreed to. The crew was respectful and friendly. They did a great job cleaning up after their work was complete. I have already asked Josh for a quote for some additional work I would like to have done now and will definitely be using in the future. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to have tree work done at an excellent price!"

"GreenLawn Fertilizing has been our lawn care company for years and we have been very happy with their work. We decided to add the tree and shrub program last year and have been pleased with it as well. Our technician, Jason, is friendly, patient in answering all my questions and concerns and knowledgeable!"

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Oso Lawn Care to help manage the removal of several trees and trim bushes in my yard. Their service was quick, efficient, professional, and cost effective. Jose was wonderful to work with. He provided a clear outline of how he was going to tackle the job and the cost associated with the service. There were no hidden fees and he and his team made quick work of the job. He cleaned up the area he worked on and left the job site clear of any debris. I would absolutely hire this company again. My wife and I were so impressed with the quality of their work we recommended Jose to several of our friends and colleagues. This company provides best in class service."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

In most cases, your neighbor is responsible for roots from their tree that cause damage to your property. If your pavement, the foundation of your home, or a fence is damaged by roots from a neighbor’s tree, you likely will have legal recourse for financial relief. While it’s better to notify your neighbor of any problems you notice as soon as they arise to avoid costly damage, there are some instances where filing a civil suit is your only recourse. Your homeowner’s insurance company might wish to do so on your behalf if you file a claim.

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

DIY pruning is possible for small trees and shrubs with basic tools. However, for larger trees, more hazardous removals, or to ensure proper pruning techniques are used, it is recommended to hire a professional for safety.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.
