"Duct Kings came out quickly and spent one day thoroughly cleaning the vents and scheduled the aero-seal for another day. During the process they noticed an issue with their software and rather than ignoring it and continuing the work, they stopped and rescheduled to come back and finish when the equipment was working properly. They were thorough, respectful of my home (and my pets), and wonderful to work with. I highly recommend Duct Kings!!"

"Palmer Gas & Oil just did an entire replacement of the 20-year-old central HVAC + humidifier + thermostats two-zone system in my home with a new state-of-the-art total system and I could not be more pleased. From start to finish each employee was personable, extremely knowledgeable, very courteous, and the consummate professional. "Patrick called Friday night and showed up at 7:15 AM on a Saturday morning (OMG) to repair a central A/C system that was icing up inside. I'm still waiting to hear from the other 2 companies that were listed in my area. I know they will call Monday which would mean myself and my disabled wife would spend a very uncomfortable weekend and probably longer because most HVAC companies don't work weekends and it usually takes at least a day to schedule an appointment. Not fun when the humidity is 65% and the temp is close to 80. Patrick did a great job, A/C is running like new. Will hire him again and recommend him in a heart beat. Prices are very reasonable. Hire him!"

Customers say: True professional

"Gary and Tina went well beyond my expectations. From a detailed explanation of the job upfront including pricing and finding a break in the duct work after they began the job. They visited 3 times (about 3 hrs r/t each visit) waiting for a hvac company to repair the duct work so they could perform the work previously detailed. Very professional, meticulous in their work and the house was as clean when they left as when they arrived. I will without hesitation call on them to perform their service in the future."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Capacitors are the most frequent part of an HVAC system to experience failure. These components are crucial for starting the motors that power the fans and compressor, but over time, they may become worn or fail due to electrical surges or regular wear and tear. When capacitors malfunction, HVAC systems may experience decreased heating or cooling efficiency, or even total system failure. Replacement or maintenance of capacitors is a common requirement for the optimal functioning of HVAC systems.

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.

No. Your furnace does not run your air conditioner. Both units use the same system of ductwork to move conditioned air throughout your home, but you can have a furnace without having an air conditioner and vice versa. Furnaces are only for heating your home. You can buy a system that does both, however, like a split system or a heat pump (yes, heat pumps cool, too).

You should only run your dehumidifier in warmer months, such as spring and summer, to get the best performance out of your system. The air gets drier when temperatures drop in the winter months, creating less of a need for a dehumidifier. However, when to run a dehumidifier will depend on your local climate.

You should plan to change your AC unit's filter every one to three months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. You should also clean the coils at least once per year, but if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies, you might need to clean them more often. Fortunately, many pros will clean the coils and change the filter for you during an inspection, which you should schedule once or twice per year.
