"Edwin and his staff at Cortez Roofing were very professional. They responded in a timely manner to our questions and requests for details regarding our re-roofing and gutter replacement. The work was started and finished on time and on budget. The work site was kept organized and was cleaned up at completion. We would definitely recommend Cortez Roofing to others."

"Remmy contacted me quickly and came out the next day to check out my roof. Over the phone I told him I had a newborn so he was nice and called when he was outside instead of ringing the doorbell in case my son was sleeping. For the inspection he showed me pictures of what was wrong and what they would do to fix it. Remmy and his crew came out and fixed the problem quickly as well as making sure there was no other problems. They will always be my first to come to if I have roofing problems."

"Abe responded quickly and was able to get me an immediate estimate for repairs of multiple roof leaks that occurred after a recent hail storm. He presented me with multiple repair options and his suggestion for the most cost-effective one to pursue. Everything was handled in a professional and efficient manner. Repairs were top notch. Roofing questions, answered by experts

Roofing projects in Omaha, NE, should follow safety guidelines from the Nebraska Department of Labor, including using fall protection systems, securing ladders, and monitoring weather for high winds or storms. Only qualified crews should work on steep or icy roofs. Homeowners are advised not to attempt roof work themselves, as local regulations require trained professionals for safety and code compliance.

Helpful?

In Omaha, NE, common mistakes include selecting roofing materials without proper hail or wind ratings, neglecting to obtain required permits from the City of Omaha Planning Department, and hiring unlicensed contractors. Skipping ventilation upgrades or improper flashing installation can lead to leaks and ice dams. Always verify contractor credentials and ensure materials meet local building codes for roofing projects in Omaha.

Helpful?

During roofing projects in Omaha, NE, homeowners often encounter unexpected costs such as replacing rotted decking, upgrading attic ventilation to meet code, or addressing hidden structural issues. Weather-related delays can increase labor time, and additional permit or inspection fees may apply. The City of Omaha Planning Department may require extra documentation, so review your project scope carefully to minimize surprises.

Helpful?

In Omaha, the City of Omaha Planning Department requires a building permit for most roofing projects, especially full roof replacements or structural changes. Permits must be obtained before work begins, and inspections are scheduled during and after the project. Contractors must provide proof of licensing and insurance. Always verify requirements directly with the City of Omaha Planning Department to ensure compliance with local roofing regulations.

Helpful?

For roofing projects in Omaha, NE, architectural asphalt shingles rated for impact resistance are highly recommended due to frequent hail and severe weather. Metal roofing is another strong option for its durability and ability to shed snow. Synthetic slate performs well in Omaha's freeze-thaw cycles. According to the Omaha Building Department, avoid wood shakes and clay tiles, as they are less suitable for local climate conditions.
