"Paul answered my request promptly - was well prepared for the interview ( pictures of walls and blocks available) he listened to what we wanted and was able to work with in our budget and the time frame that we needed. The workers that he sent out to replace the wall were very polite and were experienced in what they were doing. They did a great job and cleanup. I highly recommend Paul Greenway and will look forward to working with him on other projects."

"Our driveway tear out and replacement went great. Crew got there about 10 am and immediately started to work on the demo. By the end of the day, they had removed all the old concrete in the driveway and front stoop, framed in the new drive and stoop, lain the sub-grade, and installed the rebar. They were back first thing the next morning to pour the concrete and finished before noon. Mike also put in wider expansion joints to combat the "street creep" that was the cause of our driveway and minor structural issues. We had an old basketball hoop set in concrete that that they removed for us and filled the hole in with dirt. My wife couldn't believe how fast the crew worked during the whole process and they did an excellent job of cleaning up both days they were there. I did have a bid that was $200 lower than but it didn't include rebar. Very satisfied with the work done and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Proper excavating transforms wet, unusable basements into comfortable living spaces and allows for the addition of storm shelters, which are essential in NE. Addressing drainage corrects standing water issues in your yard after heavy spring rains. This work also significantly lowers indoor humidity and mold risks while protecting your foundation from the damaging expansion of local clay soils.

Helpful?

Uncovering buried concrete rubble or unknown fill material in older Omaha neighborhoods requires extra removal efforts. High water tables near creeks demand unexpected dewatering equipment. Excavating can also expose deteriorated clay sewer lines that require immediate repair. Other hidden expenses include mandatory soil remediation for contaminated dirt, expired utility locate re-notification fees, and mandatory arborist assessments if digging encroaches on protected tree roots.

Helpful?

Omaha experiences over 100 freeze-thaw cycles annually, causing significant soil movement in expansive clay. Inspect excavated areas and re-grade them after winter and spring thaws. Check for backfill settling around foundations or utility trenches. You should also clear sediment from drainage channels annually and inspect slopes for erosion after heavy spring storms. Follow up on any required public works inspections for permitted excavating work.

Helpful?

Older Omaha homes with fragile rubble stone or brick foundations often require extra shoring during excavating. Review your property for mature trees, as local preservation ordinances restrict digging near large root systems. Steeply graded lots with retaining walls complicate equipment access. Additionally, properties in central neighborhoods with aging combined sewer infrastructure face complex, shallow utility conflicts that require careful navigation by a professional.

Helpful?

Postponing excavating projects in NE increases the risk of chronic basement flooding and foundation damage. Expansive clay soils shift and crack foundations when drainage issues remain unresolved. Unaddressed trenches left exposed through winter face severe frost heave damage due to deep frost lines. Delaying work also causes utility locates to expire, requiring re-notification, and leaves slopes vulnerable to embankment failure during spring floods.
