"Had an old wooden retaining wall replace with block. Price was great and wall looks awesome! The workers were friendly and professional. Helped me out with a few extras. I think I didn’t explain one part of what I wanted very well. They came back out and made sure I was satisfied. I am now looking at another project for them since that one went so well. They were always quick to respond and we got it scheduled and completed way faster than expected even with a couple rain days."

Small jobs welcome

"Rene and the crew of Leaf Comstruction are honest, hard woking and sincere about their work and their reputation. They came on our job site with good equipment and knew how to use it. In about 6 hours they demolished and removed a 900+sqft old worn out driveway. The next day they leveled, added and compressed the base, added reinforcement, formed, poured and finished the new drive all for the original, competitivel estimated cost. I was a building contractor for a number of years and certainly would have enjoyed their work as our concrete sub during that time. The people and the product of Leaf Consruction are top notch concrete contractors."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The best type of soil to build on is a mixture of sand and clay, known as loam soil. Loam soil has the best combination of these soil types to build a foundation on. The clay particles help with water retention, so it won’t erode like sandy soil might, and the sandy particles help with drainage, so you won’t see unsafe soil expansion or have an increased risk of leaks from water sitting against your foundation.

Directional drilling is complex and requires training to use the advanced machinery. It can be challenging to monitor the position of the drill since there’s no direct line of sight. Directional drilling can also be more expensive with a cost of $10 to $30 per linear foot compared to $5 to $12 per linear foot for trenching.

The physical constraints of hand-drilling a well limit the depth you can achieve. Manually digging with picks and shovels may only lead to shallow wells of up to 60 feet in depth. To reach greater depths, you need more specialized equipment. The diameter of your well and the tools you’re using will determine how far down you can dig.

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.
