Once he was done he explained to me that I have one section of outgoing pipe that was blocked more than other spots, but he kept at it and cleared out the blocked area. He was finished by 8:50, and he billed me for one hour (total $90 and change). Tim was very professional. He wasn't put off by my dog, in fact he enjoyed petting her. I wish I knew about Backlund Plumbing years ago, it would have saved me a lot money. UPDATE: a few months after having the outgoing pipe worked on I was again having trouble with my washing machine water backing up. I called the company and sent out a (different) man. He told me that the problem was probably that I was using too much detergent in the washing machine. He charged me only $45. I began to reduce the amount of detergent and he was right, there has been no more backing up. I was told that too much detergent creates lots of bubbles in the water, too much air, making it harder to go through the pipes. Lesson learned

"For me, who likes to see if I can fix it first, it was the ability to access the knowledge and experience needed to make a washing machine repair.
