We have used him for all our plumbing, electrical and handyman projects. He never ceases to amaze me at how knowledgeable he is about anything I need him to do. He immediately knows what the problem is and takes care of it quickly. He also explains to me so I understand the problem. He also does the work himself as opposed to sending someone else who doesn't have the experience he has.. I am always impressed!!

He initially quoted me $75, which was cheaper than the other quotes and why I hired him. His work ended up being defective and provided a very hostile experience.

"The member contacted me over the phone about a leaking pipe on her irrigation system. Over the phone I gave her a rough quote, but told her I would have to see it to give a more accurate price! She had me come out and when I found what was wrong I stood by my quote and she had me make the repair! Upon completion she had me look at other things, such as a shower, replace an outside light fixture and a outlet in the garage! I made all the needed repairs after running to get parts at the local hardware store! I did find that replacing the outlet in the garage, I found that there was another issue in the garage so I recommended that she contact a electrician and recommended on that I worked with in the past! I gave her a invoice, she wrote me a check and I left! This happened in the later part of 2011 and I never heard back from her! My friend that I recommended to her to address the issues with the electrical did go out and take care of her problem and she seemed very happy with everything that both of us did, so I do not understand why I am recieving such a poor report! If there was an issue I would have tried to resolve it to the best of my ability, which anybody that knows me will say!! Communication is the key to resolving any and all issues, but you must call someone if you have an issue to give them an oppertunity to resolve it, rather than waiting such a long time to post something on the internet!!"

They changed out a garbage disposal. I have used him before. He price was reasonable. He explains what he is doing, and if there is something that I can do, if it happens again. He will give you tips. I have had to call back a second time to make sure of the schedule.

I asked Bill to install a couple of water filters for me under the sink. The job he did was extremely clean and he was very professional. He is not inexpensive but personally I would prefer to pay a little more and have the job done right the first time.

He has done quite a lot of plumbing work. If I have any plumbing work, I call him. He is very good. He is competent. He knows what he is doing. I would grade him highly on everything. I will use him in the future.

It went really fast. He came in and moved the dishwasher drain to a more clean place. and when we found that the garbage disposal was leaking and was shot. he told me where to get one for a great price and the next day I called and he came right over to install it. we settled up after all was done for a reasonable price.

Bill was great to work with. He takes great pride in his work, which shows in the final product. Also, he was very helpful in keeping our costs down as much as possible by telling us things we could do to save money - tear the old floor or tile in shower out ourselves, pick up some of the supplies, painting, etc. We could pick and choose the things we had time to do ourselves and what we preferred to have him do. He does not do estimates - he charges hourly, one price for plumbing related tasks and one for everything else, so it's hard to estimate how much you will end up paying, but he keeps very detailed records of which days he's on site andhow long, and what exactly he did while there. Because he is so in demand, and works with numerous commercial businesses, if you are in a hurry you would need to let him know. We were fine with him just coming whenever he was able to fit it in, but had we needed things sped up I'm quite sure he would have completed the job sooner. We were fine with it as we didnt have to shell out any money til the job was over! Also, because he is so in demand commercially, he only schedules one homeowner project at a time, so you might have to wait. He WILL call you back though!

He was excellent and I really appreciated him for the work he did. One time he came on a holiday and he didn't charge me extra for that, so I appreciate that and he is extremely pleasant and very competent. He also put up a screen door. He adjusted the screen door and helped me to put it up right and now it looks nice and attractive. He also fixed my air conditioning and made it work in summer the same day I called him as it was very hot. I was glad that he fixed it.

Bill made an initial visit to provide an estimate for installation. The estimate was to include installation of 3 cabinets in my laundry room and add finishing trim at the top and on both sides. I had purchased oak finishing pieces that matched the cabinets and he suggested finishing w/ a pre-finished quarter round or larger rather than stripping the finish pieces to fit -- which was to be included in the estimate. I agreed on the estimated price of $200. He returned at a later date to install the cabinets, but DID NOT complete the finish work. He used a very small piece of the oak finish wood and took the rest with him. Even though I was upset that he didn't finish the job, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle to approach him about completing the job, until my family insisted that I do so. So, I called him to ask about the finish wood and about finishing the job. He said he didn't take the wood -- it's not in my house or garage anywhere -- and promised to call the following Saturday and come by and take a look. Of course, he didn't call so I called him back several times to let him know that I'm still interested in getting this job completed. No answer. . . no return call. Unfortunately, I can't recommend Rutt's Service and Repair to anyone for any type of work. My only regret is that I didn't insist on a detailed written copy -- I trusted his verbal detailed estimate. Bottom line. . . it's just a sloppy, unprofessional, unfinished job.

"I would like to go on the record & let who ever reads this response, I did hang 3 (owner supplied) cabinets in the laundry room! I had the owner look at my work prior to collecting payment for the job, she was very satisfied with the work! I recommended installing quarter round on both sides due to centering the cabinets on the wall, she purchased a piece of trim that was not long enough to do what she needed! I told her to return it & call me back if it bothered her, she was satisfied & said that it looked good & she was happy with it ! The trim was left right next to the washing machine so she could return it & pickup the appropriate trim if she changed her mind! She did call me about 4 months later & brought it to my attention that she had her son or son-in-law attempt to install the trim & he was unable to do the job, so asked me if I could return to do that because her family told her it was not finished. She wanted me to supply the materials to trim it out! I said that since she would have to purchase the materials & I would call her & try to stop bye that weekend to install the trim, unfortunately my wife & daughter were in a car accident & had been in the hospital! I called & left a message on her voicemail telling her that I had so personal issues to attend to & that I would contact her when I had these issues resolved! I take pride in my work & always make sure that the customer is satisfied before collecting payment! In my opinion if she was unhappy with the job as she stated, she should have not paid for the job! If her family told her it was not finished & tried to finish it themselves, please do not report poorly on a person due to being impatient & allow somebody to care for there family in emergency times! Some people evidently think a trimmed out cabinet is worth the health of others!! Life is to short for petty issues! I really thought highly of this customer up until I read this report, I do believe she is a good lady, I just do not understand why she did not wait for me to get back with her!! I would also like to say, I do take pictures of all my work & would be willing to send them to whoever would like to see my work!"

Bill met me for an estimate and arrived promptly. He was very friendly and professional. He was able to perform the repairs very quickly. He even came quickly to address a slight problem with the repairs and everything seemed to be done very well.

I got a new higher quality screen door ordered at menard's. He picked it up for me snd installed it which was no small task as the company didn't send all the parts to hang the door and adjustments has to be made to make it fit. I was very pleased and when my water heater went out on labor day weekend I called him again and he repaired it for $55.00 with no extra charges for the holiday. I plan on using him all the time for my handyman projects. He is a lisenced plumber by trade.

He was able to help diagnose the problem for me but was not interested in taking on the job to fix it. He provided good suggestions for repair. I would have liked to just have him do the work and be done with it.

We had sewage backing up in our basement and it was a Saturday night. Everyone else was charging extremely high emergency weekend rates. This guy came right out, fixed our problem and even explained to us what caused it and how to prevent it happening again. I will definitely use his services again in the future and highly recommend him.

I called Bill on a Monday a.m. after I got in the shower and there was no hot water. He was at my house by 10:00 a.m. One look and the water heater needed to be replaced. He had other appointments scheduled, but made time to install a new water heater. My water heater is in a cupboard in my garage and is a very difficult space to get stuff into and out of. He installed the new one and discovered that it wouldn't stay lit and so had to install yet another one. He had to remove part of the door in order to fit the new one in. He repaired the door afterward, so you'd never know it had been altered. Even after installing two water heaters, he charged me what he initially quoted me. I would definitely hire Bill again.

They are family-owned. They have handled everything for my family since furnaces were on coal - they’ve been around for a couple of generations at least. They have changed their name actually. They’ve always been the best buy in town as far as I could tell, always been great and done real good work. They are a very wanted company and they really try to get out as soon as possible if you have an emergency. I would continue to use them in the future.

The quality of the work was excellent. However, he didn't tell me that he was the main handyman for a local restuarant chain, so the job took longer (4 weeks) that I expected. To his credit when I told him the job needed to be done, it got done. He is easy to work with. He also used a helper who has a business of his own (Dennis Ryder) who I am also happy with. I would recomend Bill and Dennis. They are professionals and do quality work.

Bill was punctual, exhibited excellent communication, and was highly professional. He called to notify me that he was on his way, and arrived in a timely manner. When he arrived, he immediately went to work and energetically stuck with the job through its completion. His skill level and work ethic are of highest quality. He is an honest man of integrity looking to make an honest wage. What's more, he is a man who takes genuine pride in his work. For those of us who work outside of the home, Bill is flexible and gracious in accommodating busy schedules. He met me at 5:00 on a Friday afternoon to offer his estimate. And, he worked the job on a Sunday afternoon. He is motivated and dedicated. Would I hire him again? Would I pass his name along to friends in need of his services? In a New York minute. When getting started Bill was very conscientious of his surroundings and put his tools on a towel to protect the floors as well as removing the cabinet door, so as to not damage it while working.
