"I’m sharing this publicly because I have been misled, overcharged, and repeatedly ignored by Aksarben, and after giving them every opportunity to make things right. What started as a simple routine service call under my HSP membership turned into a high-pressure sales situation. Shortly after the technician visit, a salesperson arrived and quoted me nearly $20,000 for what was described as a “top-of-the-line” system — including $2,400 for a new water heater, supposedly with HSP discounts. During the signing, the salesperson instructed me to rush through the “quality control” call and falsely confirm I had reviewed multiple system options. I was only given one option, with no effort made to provide alternatives. I have also since requested a copy of the QA recording and been completely ignored. After installation, I discovered they had left my 1990s humidifier connected to this brand-new system. I was never told this would not be replaced and was later informed I’d need to pay another $784 (and at different times $500 and $1,500) to fix it. These inconsistent and shifting quotes are deceptive. After consulting multiple licensed HVAC professionals, I confirmed the total price was $6,000–$7,000 higher than comparable systems. The equipment sold to me is not top-of-the-line by any reasonable standard. I requested an itemized breakdown of costs and have been ignored entirely. To make matters worse, the system failed inspection by MUD utilities and was declared unsafe, leaving my home without gas service, hot water, or laundry for days. Aksarben refused to honor its own 24-hour comfort guarantee and has not issued the promised $555 compensation. When I attempted to cancel the purchase within the 10-day window, both the salesperson and sales manager were “unavailable,” and I was promised callbacks that never came. The fact that they have such glowing reviews makes me genuinely question whether they’re legitimate or incentivized internally, because my experience was the complete opposite. Nearly three weeks ago, I scheduled a duct cleaning and annual HVAC maintenance. On a Saturday, I received a call informing me they were “too busy” to keep my Monday appointment and wanted to push me out another two weeks. I told them that was unacceptable due to the heavy construction in my home and that I would need to look elsewhere. Suddenly, they were able to fit me in on Tuesday and offered a $50 credit. Tuesday arrives, and the problems start immediately. Two technicians showed up and left black marks on about 15 of my stairs. They initially denied it but eventually wiped them down with a cloth and water. Later, I discovered they somehow got paint inside one of my electrical outlets from dragging their cord across it. I spoke with the manager, who showed no concern or accountability for the damage. I was also informed—after they arrived—that they couldn’t complete my annual maintenance because neither technician was mechanically trained. So once again, I had to reschedule, and someone else came out the next day. The technician on Wednesday was by far the worst part of this entire experience. He was rude, dismissive, and clearly more focused on selling memberships than actually providing service. When I mentioned the $50 credit I had been promised, he looked at me like I was making it up. As he tried to upsell me on their membership, I asked if they could credit the duct cleaning since it’s included in that plan. Despite me telling him they had cleaned my ducts less than 24 hours earlier, he called the office claiming it happened the prior week. While on the phone, I could hear him questioning whether I even deserved the $50 credit I had been explicitly promised. When I asked if the 15% part discount (which is included with the membership I would be paying for monthly over a two-year lock-in) would apply, he acted as if I was asking for something unreasonable and told me I was “getting too many discounts.” None of these were random discounts—they were things they advertised. At this point his behavior confirmed my suspicion that this company prioritizes sales tactics and profit over honesty or customer service. I declined the membership. Once he finalized the bill, it was more than $150 higher than the quote I received the day before. Since then, I’ve called the office three separate times asking for a simple cost breakdown: the technician’s cleaning charges and the UV bulb replacement. The manager still cannot provide this and continues speaking in circles without answering my direct question. Bottom line: Do not hire this company under any circumstances. There are many HVAC, electrical, and plumbing companies that value their customers, communicate honestly, and provide professional service. John Henry’s is not one of them."

Backlund Plumbing is one of Omaha's oldest and most respected plumbing companies. Today we have over 30 professional licensed plumbers and customer service representatives, a fleet of fully equipped residential and commercial plumbing trucks and a 10,000 ft warehouse. One thing that has stayed consistent is customer satisfaction. Backlund Plumbing is known for honesty, quality and reliability and is one of the few companies that still stands behind its work with a full customer satisfaction guarantee. Backlund Plumbing still charges by the hour because we feel that is the fair way to charge our customers. We do not figure in any mistake time nor special percs for our technicians nor unfair high profits. Backlund Plumbing does not charge a trip charge nor does it put undo pressure to sign proposals for work to highly priced.

"We trusted backlund to ensure the lift station in our house was functioning properly and in good condition before agreeing to purchase our house. $1200 later someone named Jake said it was good to go. So we agreed with the purchase of the house. A month later it stopped working and our laundry room flooded. When we called backlund they said Jake no longer works there and sent someone else out. They took one look at the lift station and said it was at the end of its life and needed to be replaced. BACKLUND FAILED TO DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION BEFORE WE PURCHASED OUR HOUSE. They did a patch up job so it seemed to function for the sale. Given we can not afford a new 5k lift station we asked if they would patch it up again. They got some new parts re used some old parts of another lift station and billed us $1200. So now we are $2400 in to what should have just been 5k in the first place. They should have replaced it initially because now when everything is said and done we will have nearly $7500 invested in this lift station instead of what should have just been 5k to begin with. The parts they purchased will just be replaced because everything would come with the new lift station. On top of that we were billed 6 hours for an electrician who missed a rusted out pipe that connects the lift station from inside to outside. If you spend 6 hours trying to figure out why something does not work you think they would actually examine what they are trying to fix. Unbelievable. We are taking our issue to the better business bureau."

We asked what we could do in the meantime so we could stay in the house, he said he could put refrigerant in but we shouldn't cause it's expensive and it would just leak out. We decided to put it in anyway and see if we made it til the new coil got here. We were then informed that the cost of the coil and labor would be $1900 out of pocket and that was after the home warranty. We decided to get a second opinion (our AC was still working fine after three days). We had Elite come out and the tech informed us that there was a small leak in the coil, it didn't need replacing, just tightening and there was no rust. I run a dog sitting business out of my home and I had to cancel dogs for this week because I didn't know if the air would be working. They also charged $389 for 3lbs of refrigerant. I would find a different company, they do not care for customers at all!"
