"Ryan is very responsive, but a lot of the details (trim, corners, clean up) in the the job were poorly done for the tiles and carpentry. There were some significant mistakes around executing the asked for design that ended up causing delays and costing more money. If you hire him, you should check his crew work routinely so mistakes can be corrected. He is really good at fixing the mistakes while the job is ongoing. Unfortunately, I have been finding things a month later and fixing them now would be cost prohibited."

I wish I needed every room in my house painted as Beau would be doing every one of them.  He was able to come look at the area needing painting within a couple days of calling him.  He contacted me shortly thereafter with a great bid that included the cost of the paint.  It was less than half of what someone else had quoted.  I was not on a tight timeline, but needed it done before mid-June.  He was one of many contractors I was coordinating for a basement facelift.  He had a couple home exteriors he was working on but said he could fit me in on a rainy day.  I had some prep work to do before he came and needed to pick out a color.  I started on that when the weather forecast looked like a rain day was coming.  He sent me a nice e-mail on a Wednesday and asked when I would be ready for him, but said don't feel rushed.  I told him I was forecasting a rain day on that Friday and had finished my prep work and would know the paint color on Thursday and I would text him that morning.  I texted him Thursday, he got the paint ordered and said he would see me Friday morning.

I had removed all my baseboards as they had paint flecks from the prior homeowner and I wanted to get them cleaned up.  As I was working on that in the garage, while he was painting, he gave me a suggestion of how to make it a little easier (warm soapy water in a spray bottle, spray it on, let it sit for a short bit and then use a scrubby sponge to get it off - I used a Dobie).  For the top edges that had more solid paint on them he said I could borrow his sander to sand that off and I'd only have to stain the top edge.  The whole project went a lot easier than I expected with the great suggestions from Beau and by letting me use his sander.

He and his worker Tanner finished the whole job in less than 5 hours and it looked phenomenal.  It was a boring neutral wall basement and it now was a gorgeous blue gray color (Ocean Storms - Diamond Vogel) that looks different in the different lights (natural vs ceiling, etc.).  It turned out better than I imagined.

I had read a comment somewhere about his trim work.  I looked closely where the ceiling and walls met and along the door frames and there was not a speck of paint anywhere and he doesn't even tape.  I told him how amazed I was at how well that looked.  I even pointed it out to my boyfriend when he got home and he felt the same as I did that Beau does great work and is a true artist.

They also used a garden hose out back to wash out their pans.  I had it strewn on the patio from my last use so I hooked it up for them.  I go outside today to use it and they had neatly coiled it up underneath the water spigot.  I turned to my boyfriend and said "look what Beau and Tanner did".  I just shook my head and got a smile on my face as it was totally unexpected.  They could have left it just as I had...a mangled mess on the patio....but they put it back the neatest it will look all summer.

Beau definitely takes pride in his work!!!!  He and Tanner did a great job.  I felt like he was family and that I had known him a long time.  Not just a paint contractor that I met that day.  It takes a special personality to have that trait and Beau and Tanner definitely have it.

He and I also talked about him power washing my deck and re-staining it as it is long overdue.  I have a pergola built into one corner so it's not a simple open deck.  He's going to do that for me this summer when he has time in his schedule as I told him I was not in a hurry.  I can't wait to see how great that is going to look when he's done.

I highly recommend Beau to everyone.  If I ever need him again for painting and he's busy, I would wait.  He is truly that good!!!

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

When planning a general remodeling project, it's important to define the scope of work, understand your goals, and set a clear, detailed budget. You should also assess the current structure and consult with professionals like architects or contractors. Create a realistic timeline for each phase, obtain any necessary permits, and build in contingency plans for potential delays or unforeseen issues. Regular communication with all involved parties is crucial to streamline the process.

When conducting space planning, building codes and regulations need to be considered. As long as you are taking them into account and discussing them with the architect, you should be able to do your space planning appropriately.

In-law suite floor plans almost always include at least one bedroom, a bathroom, and a combination kitchen/living room area or separate spaces for the kitchen and living room. Larger in-law suites built in accessory dwelling units separate from your main structure can feature multiple bedrooms, dining rooms, and entertainment rooms in addition to the necessities.

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

Yes, professionals offer design services that ensure cohesive appearances.
