Cooling & Heating Unlimited, Inc. is a full service union heating, air conditioning and plumbing company that has been in business since June 1985. We are a smaller sized shop made up by everyday people. We work well with one another and work just as well with our customers. We bill out our service jobs on a "time & material" basis. Just as most shops, we have a (1) hour minimum charge but do not associate any other surprising fees to your final bill. (No trip charge, same day service, fuel surcharge, etc...) We provide free project estimates and can work on just about every make and model. As far as fun facts: we have two sets of father/son teams, an extremely tall estimator, the best geothermal service technicians around town, and a fun exciting secretary who changes her hair on a quarterly basis; just as you should change your furnace filter.

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s normal (and beneficial) to have a small amount of water in the bottom of your sump pit. It shows that your system is collecting groundwater, rain, and excess water from around your property—just like it’s supposed to. However, if the sump pit is always full, you might have a leak or a faulty sump pump.

If your sump pump isn’t engaging, it might be clogged with dirt and debris. Check to see if the fitting lid is loose and has been letting debris in. Next, check the float and make sure it’s not obstructed by rust or gunk, which results from insufficient maintenance. Tangled wires or damaged switching systems can also stop your sump pump from engaging.

Test regularly, clean the pump, and inspect the discharge line to ensure efficient operation.

You need a sewage ejector pump if you have appliances or fixtures that use water below ground, such as basement sinks, bathrooms, or laundry facilities. If all of your indoor plumbing connections are above ground, on the main floor or higher, gravity can do the work without a sewage ejector pump.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.
