"WOW!! Itâ s so rare to find a company that exceeds your expectations, but this was our experience from start to finish with Carolina Grading & Land Clearing! Tim & Alisa are a dynamic duo, good communicators, punctual and have a great team of motivated, professional workers. Gary, the lead on our project, was phenomenal! He listened to what we were hoping to accomplish on our land, offered suggestions and then followed through to masterfully transform our property! There is no doubt due to their accumulative expertise in land development the money we spent for land clearing and grading not only made our property more usable, but it greatly increased the overall value of our property. Talk about a WIN-WIN! Thank you Carolina Grading team!!"

"The Next Vision Services crew did an amazing job from start to finish with building my patio. they worked with me over the course of a few weeks to find the right colors and materials and created solutions that worked well for my needs and the homeowner's association. "Our foundation was damaged and walls were sinking after damage from Helene, and the situation was getting urgent. Another company quoted nearly $65,000, which simply wasn’t realistic for us. David from Gibson Grading and Construction took the time to actually assess the problem and came up with a solid, practical solution at about a quarter of that cost. David and his workers were punctual, worked through cold weather without complaint, and treated both the job and our home with respect. David was straightforward, professional, and clearly experienced, but what stood out most was his willingness to work with people based on their real-world situations instead of pushing unnecessary work. David got the floors and walls level again and cracking has stopped. I’m grateful for his honesty, work ethic, and problem-solving approach, and I would absolutely recommend Gibson Grading and Construction to anyone dealing with foundation or drainage issues. Will hire again for other projects."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

A boundary survey measures the boundary lines of the property, only the length of each property line and their locations. A land survey includes a more in-depth measurement of the property, including the heights and depths of the terrain measured by a topographic survey. A boundary survey is typically the most cost-effective method for marking and measuring property lines.

When planning for land survey costs, you should consider the following elements as major contributors to the overall cost:

  • Size of your property in terms of acres or square feet

  • Complexity of the terrain in terms of hills, elevation changes, rocks, water, and other features

  • Type of survey you need (boundary survey, topographic survey, or a combination of survey types)

  • Distance traveled for the professional surveyor

It is almost always necessary to hire a land surveyor near you to ensure your fence sits on the right side of the property line. Mistaking the shape of your property can lead to fines and costly changes if you have to move or adjust the privacy fence—not to mention some surly looks from your neighbor. We recommend jumpstarting your fence planning in the spring to ensure there is plenty of time to map out your plan before construction season.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

You can’t build on undeveloped land without preparing it for construction, which involves running utilities to the site or accounting for private utilities like wells and septic systems and grading and compacting the soil for safe construction. Once you prepare the land, you can build on it as long as the project abides by local zoning regulations.
