"Wonderful work! The job that Hunter, Hayden and Cory did on a few hours would have taken my husband and me several weekends to complete. The attention to detail was fantastic. We will definitely be calling on APM's services again!"

Small jobs welcome

"Nic is an awesome guy. He was on it from day 1 and so courteous and nice. He is very knowledgeable of his craft. He gave us a great quote but the mobile home factory we was working with was incompetent and didn't flag the land. As a result the contract was terminated and we could no longer move forward with land that might not perc. So folks steer clear of Clayton in Waynesville but hire New Ground and Clearing for all your land and grating needs!"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Before property transactions or major improvements to ensure accuracy.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

If you or your mortgage lender think your land survey needs to be more accurate, double-check the survey report and get at least a second opinion from the original surveyor and an inspector, if possible. Although it’s unlikely, even reputable surveying companies can make mistakes. An inaccurate survey can cause problems down the road in the case of any property line disputes, so it’s best to resolve any inaccuracies as quickly as possible.

A land survey includes the layout of a single property, including precise measurements and to-scale drawings of boundary lines, land improvements, and sometimes other features, like topography and drainage information. A plat map includes the layouts and boundary lines of several adjacent plots and basic structure measurements. Surveys are normally more valuable for homeowners and buyers, and plat maps are for governmental use.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.
