"Junior and his team did a fantastic job from start to finish! To start, Junior was upfront and honest during the quote, especially in areas where we could save money or piece the project out due to the large span and overall cost. Junior was very communicative regarding his scheduling and worked around our busy schedules. During the job, his crew did a fantastic job of marking and repairing the walls before painting, and the finished project was beyond our expectations. He pointed out a few areas of concern that her fixed in the drywall that we hadn’t even noticed or known to look for. As far as their professionalism, the House was almost certainly cleaner than when they came in, even during drywall repairs and sanding. This was our second project with junior and his team, and I wouldn’t hesitate to call on him again in the future! Definite 10 out of 10!"

"Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs.

"We've had Tom out twice. The first time we needed our bathroom door widened so my brother who's in a wheelchair could get into the bathroom. He took out the old door and frame, put in new drywall, new wider door,  did painting and some tile work. He did a good job and at a very reasonable price. I actually gave him an extra $50 cause he did extra stuff and did a good job. I had another quote on that project and the guy quoted twice what Tom did. 2nd call to Tom was for our roof/gutter problem. The wood that gutter was attached to had ripped off house and was hanging. Tom took out the old rotting wood, replaced wood, put gutter back on, took old satellite off roof that was an eye sore, patched up roof, and installed new outside/screen storm door. All in all, very good guy to call for any problem it seems. He stayed late and got the job done, has reasonable prices, seems to have high standard/quality of work, seems trustworthy, fast, and very knowledgeable. He is going to be our go to guy if we have any problems or projects. We want to remodel our other bathroom and once we have enough money set aside for that, we'll be giving him a call.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

White walls are the toughest color to keep clean and maintain, as they’re extremely unforgiving when it comes to dirt, splatters, dust, and smudges. Still, many people look past their high-maintenance requirements because they lighten and modernize a space beautifully. If you’re opting for white walls, it’s especially important to keep up with regular cleanings, so they stay pristine.

Plaster provides a durable, soundproof, and moisture-resistant finish compared to drywall.

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.

The age of your home can clue you in to whether you have plaster or drywall ceilings. Homes built after the ‘70s are more likely to have drywall ceilings and walls, while older homes have plaster. You can also do the pushpin test: A pushpin will go into drywall, whereas it’s much harder to push one into a plaster wall. If you’re still unsure, ask a drywall professional to let you know which type of ceilings and walls you have.
