"The crew arrived in the middle of the window of time. They demolished the rotted stairway, and built a new one that was far better than the stairway the builder had made, and were done at 4:30 that afternoon. All scrap was removed and everything went well. Great job"

"This was a super smooth process and the roof looks great. Sean is super professional and I have recommended him to all of my friends and family. He was recommended to me and he absolutely deserves the great reputation he's building. This job was for my personal house and the process of picking out the roof and getting everything paid for was very well explained and straightforward. This crew works efficiently and fast and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again on any of my other projects."

"Troy and Matt did a fantastic job framing and installing custom surround for a new fireplace and prepping for the install of a barn door on the guest bathroom. TJ did a good job gutting an office and prepping and painting. I would without a drought hire them again and actually have some projects for next spring"

"Hector did a super job! He was able to come sooner than we first arranged, and scampered all over both buildings to carefully clean the discolorations. Both roofs look like new again! We are very pleased and would readily call Hector again."

"They drove out immediately after receiving my request for a quote (which was reasonable), despite the long distance and late time of day. They then returned bright and early the very next morning to do a job that "wasn't enough" for 2 other companies to bother with (painting caps over windows/garage door). Exceptionally professional and did a great job (especially since they had to fight off an unexpected wasp nest as well). I would definitely recommend them."

"Great Jeff Patterson came out checked roof, did minor repairs as part of deal. Roof needed some shingles replaced and end caps repaired. Jeff gave price we agreed and were told someone would be out in week or two. next day guy came out and did the work. couldn't ask for better action. told roof would last 4 to 5 years and that was a pleasant surprise as every one around us having new roofs ."

"Phyllis and Rodney were both extremely responsive. They always either answered the phone themselves or returned my call right away. The communication was great. Rodney showed up on time to do the tree removal, and he did the work quickly. I would highly recommend this company!"

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Complex plumbing is tricky and expensive in an off-the-ground dwelling like this. By considering options like composting toilets, rainwater collection, and gray-water sinks, you save money and help the environment.

Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

Depending on your needs, you may find a storebought pole barn is a much less expensive option than a custom-built one. You can find pole barn kits from big box retailers starting at $11,000, but you will be limited when it comes to size and add-on features. As long as you have the necessary skills, you can save on labor costs by doing it yourself; but there are a lot of different skill sets you would need, and mistakes during the building process can lead to excessive repair bills later.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.
