"thanks to this site, I called Greater Wilm. Structure about a brick house I was buying that had cracked brick and unlevel floors. I assumed I would only (!) need to have that section of the home jacked up and the foundation repaired. Brian returned my call quickly, and met me and my realtor at the house (was a 45 min. drive for him) to give me his opinion and verbal price quote. Many contractors/carpenters would have just focused on the project and the money involved, but Brian wanted to see WHY the house had sunk. He pointed out the major structure issues with the tresses in the attic, joists, as well as other red flags, that would cause problems later. He's a master carpenter and his knowledge, experience (and sense of humor!) was refreshing and valuable. After meeting with him I decided to pull my accepted offer on the home and feel I have saved myself untold amounts of money, stress and frustration. I will definately be hiring this company in the future."

"Our experience with Porch Conversion fell far short of our expectations, both in product and customer service. Product-wise, we were not told, during the sales pitch, that the EZ breeze poly-vinyl would not provide a clear view; I knew vinyl would not be as crystal clear as glass, but the disparity is much more substantial than we could have imagined. I would describe it as a wavy distortion. This is the case with the panels with screens behind them and those without screens (upper transom). Secondly, the sliding panels, which are advertised on their website as ‘fingertip easy’ to slide, have not been our experience in the least. A lot of exertion needs to be applied to get the panels to the juncture to lock them up. That over exertion will not bode well for the product’s longevity and our aging muscles. If we were told that both situations were ‘the norm’, we would never have purchased the large panels. We would have considered going with the smaller vertically sliding panels or with glass. The customer service complaint is twofold - 1) the lack of transparency about the vinyl in the sales phase. At that time, I had emphasized to the saleswoman that the clearest view was our top priority. 2) The warranty gentleman was quick in getting back to us when I first reached out about our concern. After his visit, he said that there was no issue with the vinyl, and that he “could not go to bat for us” with the manufacturer. Subsequently, it took days to hear back from him about the sliding panel issue. Finally, we were told once again, that’s the norm with the larger panels; he also did not offer to send a technician out to see if there was any adjustment that could be made to make the panels slide as advertised. That did not seem like an unrealistic ask after doling out a nice chunk of cash for the system. The sad irony, about Porch Conversion’s warranty service, is that this was the deciding factor for us to choose them over another company, who had received frequent bad reviews about their ineffective warranty service. "Remodeling by Erik rescued our downstairs area on our second row beach home on Oak Island when it was hit by hurricane Isaias. The back wall was pushed away from the foundation by 3 feet of water that had been trapped inside. The area was not hurricane compliant so the water could not escape. Plus we had to pay exorbitant insurance due to being FEMA noncompliant. Remodeling by Erik installed FEMA compliant flood vents around the base of the home Which not only look nice but reduced our yearly insurance by almost 2K!. They also built a beautiful slat wall to replace the old solid wall thus creating more open space for water to flow out of and making a closed off, musty room more open and airy. Not to mention the slat wall is beautiful. Our outside shower was demolished by Isaias and they re-built a beautiful new shower. They also replaced our ruined water heater with a new one and had to troubleshoot the electrical that had been compromised. Take a look at our before & after photos! Erik and his team including Mike and Terry, are really nice folks to work with. They are currently renovating and expanding our tiny, outdated bathroom and we are super excited to see the results! We highly recommend them & look forward to working with them on future projects we have!??"
