"Our experience with Porch Conversion fell far short of our expectations, both in product and customer service. Product-wise, we were not told, during the sales pitch, that the EZ breeze poly-vinyl would not provide a clear view; I knew vinyl would not be as crystal clear as glass, but the disparity is much more substantial than we could have imagined. I would describe it as a wavy distortion. This is the case with the panels with screens behind them and those without screens (upper transom). Secondly, the sliding panels, which are advertised on their website as ‘fingertip easy’ to slide, have not been our experience in the least. A lot of exertion needs to be applied to get the panels to the juncture to lock them up. That over exertion will not bode well for the product’s longevity and our aging muscles. If we were told that both situations were ‘the norm’, we would never have purchased the large panels. We would have considered going with the smaller vertically sliding panels or with glass. The customer service complaint is twofold - 1) the lack of transparency about the vinyl in the sales phase. At that time, I had emphasized to the saleswoman that the clearest view was our top priority. 2) The warranty gentleman was quick in getting back to us when I first reached out about our concern. After his visit, he said that there was no issue with the vinyl, and that he “could not go to bat for us” with the manufacturer. Subsequently, it took days to hear back from him about the sliding panel issue. Finally, we were told once again, that’s the norm with the larger panels; he also did not offer to send a technician out to see if there was any adjustment that could be made to make the panels slide as advertised. That did not seem like an unrealistic ask after doling out a nice chunk of cash for the system. The sad irony, about Porch Conversion’s warranty service, is that this was the deciding factor for us to choose them over another company, who had received frequent bad reviews about their ineffective warranty service. Carolina Home Exteriors spent 23 years on Hwy 70 E just outside New Bern, NC, where our outdoor sunroom display was hard to miss. We want everyone to know that we ARE STILL IN BUSINESS, we have just moved to a nicer building at 252 KALE RD. just a mile up the road, across from Creekside Park. We still have the same great products and the same professional staff building quality home improvements for Eastern North Carolina. "I was very pleased with my experience with Carolina Home Exteriors. Our job was difficult as we were replacing old windows on the 2nd floor and the home exterior is asbestos siding. Brian and Danny were wonderful. The job took longer than anticipated but that is because they had to be very careful working around the asbestos siding. Their work was top notch, excellent quality. They cleaned up beautifully every day, vacuuming debris and cleaning the new windows. They were very professional in their interactions with me throughout the week. In fact, I was so happy with the quality of the framing they were doing around the window exteriors, I asked them to do an additional job to frame the inside of a window in our bathroom that is going to be tiled soon. I would definitely recommend them and use them again."
