"Our project was to replace a deck with a new larger one and build a roof over it. I was nervous about hiring a contractor but Hugo was recommended by a friend. « Go with Hugo, he did a superb job of carpentry in my house ! ». I am so grateful to her! I did hire Hugo. As for his work, the words “top-notch”, “first-rate” come to mind. He and his crew are outstanding professionals. The whole construction was done with such care and proficiency. My husband and I are delighted with the result. Hugo’s work was not inexpensive but I did not want to end up with a car port ! Considering that we got exactly what we wanted, with the quality of both material and workmanship, we felt it was a fair deal. Also, I appreciated Hugo’s passion for his own work and the advice of an experienced builder. As a bonus, he was completely trustworthy, showing up when he said he would, meeting all date-lines, explaining small delays while waiting for Inspections from our County, etc… and taking care of “everything”, like permits or attending to last minute requests. And then, there is another aspect of the total experience: giving us peace of mind instead of worries.. That, to me, was very valuable."

3-4 employees, no subs, free estimates. Cost is determined by the job. No travel charge. No emergency service.

We know it’s tough to find a home services contractor you can trust. With over six decades of experience, Blanton’s is a Raleigh and Fayetteville mainstay. Known for our professional approach, quality products. and guaranteed workmanship, we’re proud to offer heating, cooling, plumbing and electric solutions that knock your socks off.

"Horrible. I had them change the internal parts of two toilets (water)tank. They were leaking. They charged. me $650 to replace the internal parts of two water tanks of toilets which was in absolute rip off. There should be a law against anybody charging that much for something as little as this. The parts that they used to replace could not have cost over $50. So I paid them basically $600 in labor. I could have gone to Lowe's and bought two brand new toilets and had both installed for less than $700. I called Lowe's and priced this out."

Streamline Services, Inc. has been serving the plumbing, electrical and HVAC needs of Raleigh and surrounding areas for over 20 years. We offer 24/7 support and fast, same day repairs. We are a family-owned and operated business. We're committed to providing the highest quality service with our licensed and certified technicians, continuing training, and dedication to our community. Our core values are simple yet impact the way we go about our day – dependable, dedicated, positive, eager to learn, process-driven, and humble. The relationships we cultivate and develop amongst ourselves and with customers is something we pride ourselves with every day.

"I used Streamline Services to replace my HVAC system and to install insulation on the ductwork in my basement in August 2024, and unfortunately that was an extremely expensive mistake. We have since had them out 7 times that I have record of to repair issues related to the ductwork insulation, at extreme disruption to mine and my husband’s jobs which are based in our home, and on 2 of those occasions they also had a manager supervising. It’s the least of my concerns at this point but they left a mess each time they came, insulation scraps and screws all over the place and tape stuck to the floor. After all that, the insulation has never been properly adhered to the ductwork and has fallen down repeatedly, there are multiple areas all over our basement where the fiberglass insulation is exposed and where the tape has visibly lifted and the insulation is just resting on top of the duct. Their communication is somehow even worse than their workmanship. I’ve been trying to speak to a manager about a refund since December (I have record of 10 such inquiries I made in that time) and I’ve either been ignored or told that someone will call me and it never happens. They did give me a refund that amounted to roughly 8% of what I paid for the duct wrapping about two weeks ago, without contacting me or letting me know which I found odd, however that is not at all reflective of what I should be refunded after all of this and I think they just did it in hopes that I would leave them alone. I really wanted to resolve this with them amicably and have been exceedingly patient with them but unfortunately that goodwill hasn’t been reciprocated. We paid for our ducts to be wrapped and sealed and I think it’s clear we didn’t get what we paid for."

"We were very happy with the work completed by Leon Home Repairs. They were efficient and thorough. The work included installing a new countertop, sink, faucet,, and light fixture in one bathroom and painting the bathroom; removing painted wallpaper from one large wall and smoothing and painting the wall; replacing one set of bifold closet doors and trimming off and adjusting multiple other sets so they would operate smoothly; and replacing large window panels and the door in our front entryway. Dimas, who served as the foreman for the work on our house, also smelled gas in our utility closet and on his own initiative, figured out where the gas leak was and showed us, so we could call someone to come repair that. The team had an excellent range of skills and knowledge to tackle the variety of work we needed them to do. We will definitely call Leon Home Repairs again if we need more work done in the future."

Plumbing Handymen questions, answered by experts

In Raleigh, homeowners often overlook the need for permits when tackling major plumbing projects, which can lead to compliance issues. Ignoring the condition of aging clay pipes or skipping regular leak detection can cause hidden water damage. Failing to insulate pipes in crawl spaces or neglecting to winterize outdoor faucets leaves plumbing vulnerable to freeze damage during occasional cold snaps.

Helpful?

When hiring a plumbing professional in Raleigh, prioritize experience with local building codes and older home systems, including clay or cast iron pipes. Look for strong community reviews, proper insurance coverage, and a proven track record with drain cleaning, pipe insulation, and sewer line repair. Always request detailed project estimates and confirm the contractor’s familiarity with Raleigh’s unique plumbing challenges.

Helpful?

Raleigh’s humid subtropical climate brings occasional freezes and heavy rainfall, which can stress pipes and increase the risk of sewer backups. Shifting clay soil can impact underground lines, making timely leak detection and pipe insulation crucial. Scheduling major plumbing work in early spring or fall helps avoid delays from summer heat or winter cold, ensuring smoother project completion.

Helpful?

Plumbing systems in Raleigh benefit from routine drain cleaning, annual water heater maintenance to reduce mineral buildup, and periodic leak detection, especially in older homes. Insulating exposed pipes before winter and checking outdoor faucets each spring help prevent weather-related issues. Regularly inspecting for root intrusion in sewer lines is also important due to the region’s mature trees and aging infrastructure.

Helpful?

For Raleigh homes, PEX tubing is ideal for supply lines due to its flexibility with temperature changes and shifting soil. PVC is recommended for drain lines, while HDPE works well for replacing older sewer pipes. Installing sediment filters and water softeners helps manage hard water, and using quality pipe insulation in unheated areas protects against freeze damage during colder months.
