"I was told on the phone call that the diagnostic fee would be deducted from the repair but their technician said this was not the case, but would only charge me 50% of the diagnostic fee ($49 but actually charged $50). Tech showed up 40 minutes after service window. Technician was friendly, did quick work and got my AC working but I felt misled about the pricing. Left a sour taste, despite the quality work."

"I would like to thank Alpine and especially Drew Krueger, the service technician, for warning us about the potential danger of the 22 year old Carrier HVAC unit that we owned. The system had a gas pack that was original to the system which had never needed service, was quietly coming apart. I have been very concerned about our unit because I have heard of their potential to leak gas and kill families when they get older. Drew Krueger showed me the seams on the gas pack (I am not totally sure about the correct terminology) were starting to split open. And I know, you know what the end result could have been. We have since replaced the unit within days of Drew's inspection. We thank God first and our thanks to Drew and Alpine for your due diligence in performing your job. You just don't know how much you are appreciated!

"I bought this service on a Friday and they came on Saturday. They arrived at 10 am and were finished by noon.
I asked them to clean my porch and my sidewalk as well (this was not included in the Deal that I prepurchased) and he did that at no  extra cost.
They were clean, professional, and very good.  I would certainly use them again.

"Paul came out and gave us an estimate providing all the information we needed and answering any questions I had.  I was quite impressed with Paul and while my gut said to proceed,  never having  replaced siding on a house prior to this, due diligence had us getting  two more estimates.   Ultimately we really did not need to.
Job start to finish went quite well, despite a first day mishap where our kitchen garden window was damaged while the crew was removing the old siding.  Paul and company responded quickly and appropriately and took care of the window panel, replacing it within two weeks (had to be ordered).  Being a contractor myself, I know these things can happen and it is more about the response than the what, and the response was spot on!
The crew did a good job keeping the site in order while working and upon finishing each day.
Communication with both Paul as well as the crew was great.
Love the finished product.
I would use again as well as refer  without hesitance...and will.
Thanks Paul!!!

Boiler Repair questions, answered by experts

Regular inspections, filter replacements, and professional tune-ups keep the system running efficiently.

Yes, cleaning a boiler is essential for its efficient and safe operation. Over time, boilers can accumulate dirt, rust, sediment, and mineral deposits, reducing efficiency, increasing energy consumption, and causing potential breakdowns. Cleaning involves removing these deposits from various components like heat exchangers, burners, and pipes. Neglecting cleaning can also lead to corrosion and decreased life span. Regular, yearly maintenance, including cleaning, ensures optimal performance, lower energy bills, and a safer heating system. It's best to consult the boiler's manual or hire a professional technician for cleaning to ensure the job is done right.

Clean regularly, check for leaks, and schedule annual inspections for safety and efficiency.

Deciding whether to repair or replace your HVAC system largely depends on its age, the cost of repairs, and its overall performance. If the system is over a decade old and requires frequent or expensive repairs (e.g., totaling over $5,000), replacement is often the more cost-effective choice, especially if the warranty has expired. It is usually worth repairing a newer system, but if it is approaching the end of its typical 15- to 25-year lifespan, replacement might be a better long-term investment. Signs that you may need a replacement include increased humidity, higher energy bills, uneven heating or cooling, and excessive dust. Before deciding, ask your HVAC contractor to check if any parts are covered under warranty, which could save you money on repairs.

In most cases, you should hire a professional to carry out services on your HVAC system, as the components are complicated, expensive, and potentially dangerous to work with. However, there are a few things you can do on your own to keep your HVAC system in good condition, including changing your filters every three months, keeping the area around your outdoor condenser clear of debris and plant growth, making sure your or intakes aren’t blocked, and keeping an eye out for increased energy bills, strange noises, and unusual odors related to your equipment.
