Customers say: Quality work

"Excellent! This job took several days since each coat of drywall mud needed to dry before paint primer and painting began. AB Drywall always arrived on time and cleaned up the work area before leaving for the day. What I really like was AB Drywall was able to apply a smooth application of mud which eliminated sanding which causes a mess from the dust. Highly recommend AB Drywall!"

"Great. Phone calls were returned promptly, employees were friendly and courteous and showed up at the scheduled time. The work was completed timely and in a professional manner at the quoted price. The material used during the project was picked up and taken with the crew when they left."

"Abel was extremely professional, timely with all the jobs he has done for me (put together a brand new treadmill, repaired drywall and painted). Additionally, he completed other minor tasks like removing a shelf and picking up the materials needed for the job. Excellent price and excellent work. I would definitely recommend using J&A and I will be using them in the future!"

"I hired M.A.S. Painting and Remodeling to paint my guest bedroom and repair a water-damaged wall, and I’m very pleased with the results. "Our experience with City Limits Construction was "Outstanding." We explained our issue with our Widows and drywall, that might have had mildew, and Nick knew exactly what it was and repaired our parlor and Dinning room. Very professional, within our budget, and completed the job in almost half the time allotted for the project. When Nick left our Home, the area was spotless, and No construction pieces or parts were left in our house. On-time when we made the appointment and super professional...knows his craft. We definitely will use City Limits Construction for many other project opportunities we might have to complete in the future. Highly Recommend them and their superb professional work. Marvin Love"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.

On average, drywall installation costs around $2,000, with a typical range of $400 to $6,000, including materials and labor. The final price depends on several factors. The most significant is the size of the area, as many contractors charge per square foot. Other cost factors include the complexity of the job (e.g., cutting around multiple windows and doors, corners, or curved walls), accessibility, location, the thickness of the drywall, the height of the room, and the desired level of finish. The level of finish can range from simply hanging the drywall to taping and mudding the seams and painting the walls.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

The age of your home can clue you in to whether you have plaster or drywall ceilings. Homes built after the ‘70s are more likely to have drywall ceilings and walls, while older homes have plaster. You can also do the pushpin test: A pushpin will go into drywall, whereas it’s much harder to push one into a plaster wall. If you’re still unsure, ask a drywall professional to let you know which type of ceilings and walls you have.

Wall anchors are suitable for drywall and plaster walls, which are common in most homes. However, different wall materials may require specialized anchors. For concrete or masonry walls, you'd typically use concrete anchors. When dealing with other wall types, such as brick or tile, specific anchors designed for those materials may be necessary. Always consult with a hardware specialist or check the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure you select the appropriate anchors for your specific wall type.
