Customers say: Quality work

"David was very professional. A-grade work. He did what he said and blowed us away with an exceptional work. He is a must recruit for drywall. He was on time. Provided every detail before the work started and made sure the place to be clean after he completed. Definitely a 5 star."

"Wes was very quick in his response. Wes and Jay came out and repaired my bathroom ceiling. Drywall was replaced then retextured in the same day. Quick and great service. Now I can put my house on the market next week!"

"Angelo was fantastic, he came same-day to check out my project. He was insightful, curious, and was a huge help! His team came next day to fulfill and complete the drywall project and I could not recommend them more for projects in the Charlotte area. They were extremely friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable answering any questions I had thoughtfully and with patience. As a new home owner, I’ll continue to use Angelo and his team for all future projects!"

"Another great job by Dave from his team Cransten Handyman and Remodeling, we had a ceiling leak that had done some damage in our garage they removed all the molded things, took out the damage, replaced insulation, put up new drywall, and painted and all looks great again. I am very satisfied with their work, a very knowledgeable team. I recommend this company for having a professional worker!"

"Our experience with City Limits Construction was "Outstanding." We explained our issue with our Widows and drywall, that might have had mildew, and Nick knew exactly what it was and repaired our parlor and Dinning room. Very professional, within our budget, and completed the job in almost half the time allotted for the project. When Nick left our Home, the area was spotless, and No construction pieces or parts were left in our house. On-time when we made the appointment and super professional...knows his craft. We definitely will use City Limits Construction for many other project opportunities we might have to complete in the future. Highly Recommend them and their superb professional work. Marvin Love"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.

If you already have plaster walls and ceilings, adding new plaster costs $2 to $10 per square foot. For an average-sized room, that would come out to $1,200 to $10,000. However, the cost to replace plaster with drywall is higher—running between $720 and $1,250 for a 10-by-8-foot wall or ceiling (not including drywall finishing).

Furring strips, thin strips of wood or metal, are not always required for ceiling drywall installation. If the ceiling surface is even and in good condition, drywall can be directly attached to the ceiling joists using screws. However, furring strips become essential when dealing with irregular surfaces or when additional insulation or soundproofing is needed. They create a level substrate for attaching the drywall. Ultimately, the decision to use furring strips depends on the condition of the existing ceiling and the specific requirements of the project.

There are a handful of reasons why your drywall anchors are breaking. Using the wrong type of anchor is the most common problem, so always make sure you’re using the best option for a particular project. That there are electrical wires or plumbing where you’ve placed an anchor or that your drywall is weak are two other possible causes.
