"I am SO appreciative of the awesome job that was done in our home in the removal of our popcorn ceilings. Your process was so impressive and greatly eliminated/minimized the amount of dust and debris from removing the popcorn ceilings. This was especially important to me, as I have asthma. Edwin and his assistant were great! They arrived promptly every day and focused intently on getting the job done satisfactorily. They were such hard workers and completed the project ahead of the estimated completion date. I am so satisfied with the quality of their work. I highly recommend Popcorn Squad to anyone desiring to have their popcorn ceilings removed! I have already shared our experience with several people. Thank you Popcorn Squad!"

"I have had them out three separate times in 2 months. They finished a remodel of a kitchen by painting the walls ceiling and trim, also stained wooden beams to match floors. Wes was the only contractor that said he would take the time to get samples of stains mixed to match the floors to test before they were actually completed. Now they are finishing up removing the popcorn from the ceilings in 2 other rooms and 2 hallways. Also painted walls in front 2 rooms. Wes and his crew were on time and reliable. I know I am going to get a professional job every time."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

When steaming falls short, consider utilizing a commercial texture remover tailored for popcorn ceiling removal. Adhere closely to the manufacturer's guidelines and conduct a preliminary test in an inconspicuous spot to verify compatibility with your ceiling. This specialized product offers an alternative solution for stubborn texture removal, potentially streamlining the process while safeguarding the integrity of your ceiling surface. Remember, products like these may be high-VOC, so wear protective gear.

Priming a popcorn ceiling before painting is a good idea, especially if the ceiling is stained, discolored, or has never been painted. Interior paint primer helps seal the surface, preventing stains from bleeding through and allowing the paint to adhere better. Use a stain-blocking, water-based primer for best results.

Smooth ceilings create a modern, clean look that helps brighten rooms by reflecting light, making spaces feel more open. They're easy to paint and maintain but can show imperfections. Textured ceilings add character and hide flaws like cracks or uneven drywall. With a range of patterns, you can opt for a subtle texture or something more decorative. The choice between smooth and textured ceilings comes down to your personal style and the look you want for your space.

Textured ceilings add visual interest and personality to a room, breaking away from the flat, uniform look of smooth ceilings. They are also practical, as the texture helps to hide imperfections, making them ideal for older homes or spaces prone to wear and tear. Textured ceilings come in a variety of patterns, giving homeowners the flexibility to choose a style that complements their design preferences, whether they want something subtle or more intricate. Additionally, certain textures can help with sound absorption, making rooms quieter and more comfortable.

On average, repairing a ceiling costs anywhere from $450 to $1,750. However, there are many variables that can impact the price of this project. For example, the type of ceiling material, type and extent of the damage, and local labor rates all affect your costs. Holes and cracks are less expensive to fix, while structural issues and water damage are pricier problems.
