"We heard some scratching coming from the attic and one of the wires run through the attic was chewed through. Investigation by our pest control company confirmed: we had rats! Sadly, our pest control company only baited but did not dispose of dead rats nor did they look to abate any further infestation. So, we called Critter Control out to take a look. Within about 24 hours, they were in our house looking for ways for the little vermin to get in. They also found 3 dead rats that had stumbled and died within our crawl space. They provided a written estimate for the cost to and quot;patchand quot; up the house and took care of the dead rats. The cost for the rat removal seemed a little high, but it's not that much when considering you don't have to deal with a bloated dead rat! The patching estimate seemed about on-par with other quotes received. We will likely be using them to complete the job! "
"Jeremy was the exterminator that did the job, he has addressed my concerns with great attention to the issues. Legion pest control is my preferred exterminator."
The previous pest control company I had (a large nation wide company) came out once a quarter for service. Every time they came for service they said they treated the crawl space. Recently we saw some roaches in the house, so when I went to check in the crawl space, it was clear that the crawl space had never been treated.
After terminating service with that company, I had a couple of other companies come out for an assessment. One salesman promised to clean up (de-web) the crawlspace, but the technician who came out said he would not enter the crawl space. This seems to happen a lot with pest control companies i.e. the technician never follows through on promises made by the salesman.
Taylor Cook from Economy Exterminators clearly laid out what they would do in the contract - in writing. The price was about 30% more than the previous company but they are supposed to come out 6 times a year (every 60 days) instead of every quarter. This may be over doing it, but they do cover 44 pests including carpenter ants and mice. This is more than what most companies cover.
Kevin Hagan, the technician who came out per schedule a couple of days later did everything that was agreed, which included de-webbing the crawl space and treating it and thus adequately met my expectations.
Foundation Crawl Space Automatic Vents:
I ordered for this along with the pest control agreement. I had previously got quotes for this from 2 other Angies list companies. Economy Exterminators gave the best quote.
While talking about the vents, Taylor said the vents came with a lifetime warranty. However, when I received the copy of the contract, it said 1 year labor & materials warranty. So when I asked about it, he said he will revise.
However, the revised version said 5 year warranty, which is what the manufacturer offers the company. I understand that Taylor may have misquoted when he said lifetime warranty. However, I just did not like the way this went about, so I cancelled the order.
The next day, Taylor called me back to tell me that he asked his management to make an exception and keep the initial promise and provide lifetime warranty. The revised contract this time had the lifetime warranty clearly written out.
In the meantime, I verified from the manufacturers website that they do indeed provide only a 5 year warranty. So the extra mile (or more) that Taylor and Economy Exterminators went to earn my business is remarkable.
Hopefully, I will never have to avail of the warranty and the vents will keep working fine, but my experience so far with Economy Exterminators had been exceptional. "

"Up front, unforeseen circumstances haven't allowed me to hire Wildlife Home Solutions for the job... yet. But I will. Not only were they the only business that contacted me in person instead of form-mail or a link to a corporate website, they were the only one to show up and inspect the property at all. They were thorough, very polite, answered all of my questions, and the price quoted was reasonable for the work to be done.
I look forward to working with them in the future and would definitely recommend their services."
"Nathan with Solocal Wildlife Removal is a very nice and fair man. He took care of the squirrel that was getting into my attic driving me crazy. His price was half as much as the other company quoted. He also re hung the bedroom blind that fell."
"Rachael Stafford helped me today. I had signed up for pest control at a really reasonable price, but only wanted one application. She was very helpful, and she didn't try to re-sell or up-sell me on other services. I highly recommend Experigreen. They are a good value for the money. I don't have to subscribe to all 7 lawn treatments to get them to come out and help me with a problem with my lawn."
Legal considerations include adherence to local and federal wildlife protection laws, particularly for species that might be protected or endangered.
DIY animal removal is rarely a good idea and is not advised for many reasons. First, these types of animals can carry diseases and, therefore, pose a health risk to you, your family, and your pets if mishandled. Second, depending on your city or municipality, it may be illegal to remove or handle wildlife yourself.
Sealing your home against these animals yourself is also a bad idea. Trapping an animal under your house will cause odor and insect problems when it passes away.
Certain strong smells may help repel bats, though this is not a foolproof method and is best used in conjunction with other deterrence strategies. Scents like peppermint oil, eucalyptus, cinnamon, cloves, and mint are often suggested as natural remedies. To create a spray, you can mix two cups of warm water with half a cup of sugar and a few drops of your preferred essential oil. Apply this mixture using a spray bottle to possible entry points and throughout the affected area, such as an attic. While this home remedy is popular, evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited.
You can take multiple approaches to keep animals out of your edible landscape. You can use natural repellents such as mint and cayenne pepper to deter them from your garden. You can also build a fence (or opt for a privet hedge) or keep the most enticing plants in a sectioned-off area. The most efficient method of keeping your four-legged guests at bay is to determine what animal it is and create a customized plan for them.
It is possible, though unlikely, that a home insurance policy will help cover the costs of professional bat removal. However, some policies will chip in for guano removal and associated repairs, such as replacing drywall. Take some time to read the fine print of your homeowner’s insurance policy and call your provider to inquire about bat removal, guano removal, and related repairs.
