Grateful Lawn & Landscape is based out of Madison county, available in Weaverville and areas in-between. Providing educated drainage and vegetation management consults, and integrity filled, locally tailored solutions. Reach out today to schedule your consult.

"Randy and Luke were excellent! They were both really trustworthy, helpful, and considerate, and did the engineering work for the project carefully. Randy was very responsive any time I texted or emailed him, often replying on the same day (even on weekends!), and patiently and thoroughly answered all our many questions. They started the job when promised, finished it promptly even though we told them we were in no rush, and made helpful suggestions that resulted in a better project outcome. They even came back to do a little touch-up work we wanted even though we’d already paid them in full (some contractors would not have come back). We’re very happy with their work, and will definitely hire them again if we need more landscaping done."

I usually work with one or two guys, and by myself on small jobs. The customer buys the materials up front and I'll take payment for my work when the job is done to your satisfaction. I can help you get a list of materials and arrange delivery.

"Michael did an excellent job with my quirky old house. He removed the carpet (2 layers in fact) from my stairs and capped them with oak. It transformed my stairs! He also patched part of my hardwood floor. He was in good contact with me throughout the process and is very honest/fair in his work. Highly recommended!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

Trees growing within 10 to 15 feet of your house pose serious risks, so it’s worth considering removing them. First, branches that hang over and touch your roof can promote roof damage and moss accumulation, which can lead to leaking. Second, they drop debris into your gutters, leading to clogs and overflow that can promote foundation leaks. Finally, the root systems can grow into your home’s foundation, sometimes putting enough pressure on them that the concrete wall cracks, leaving you with structural damage. As such, it’s often a good idea to remove trees growing close to your home.

The fastest tree-stump killing method is stump grinding. Professional stump grinders can chip away at the stump and remove its roots within one session, potentially more for extra-large stumps. However, we recommend hiring a local stump grinding professional for this task because the machinery is dangerous to operate without prior experience, increasing the safety risk and likelihood of a more difficult removal.

It is possible to plant a tree over a ground stump if it was ground very deeply. However, it is typically best to plant elsewhere so your new tree has room to establish a strong, healthy root system. If you want to plant a tree in the same spot where you currently have a stump, you may want to consider other options, such as stump removal.

You’ll pay between $200 and $2,000 to hire a tree removal professional to cut down and remove a tree. The price difference depends on the size of the tree, its location and health, and any complexities that will affect removal, like a tricky location or proximity to your home.

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.
