Customers say: True professional

"I've been a NC licensed contractor for 20+ yrs and had more than a few subcontractors promise you the world and leave much to be desired in the end, but not Antonio Remodeling. They show up when they tell you and do the high quality work you're envisioning without complaints. Old-school craftsmanship (and I know it when I see it) these guys do great work. I def plan to keep using them on our projects. I only wish I'd found them sooner!"

"Joe Marshall brought in some subcontractors: great guys, very experienced. When they came, the came to WORK, and they worked really hard and really well. Making over my garage will be a 3-phase job, and this was just Phase One: Dry wall, ceiling fan, and a waterline/sink into the projected bathroom. Great communication between them and me, great job, and I always knew what to expect. The garage looks good, all sheetrocked and the walls painted with trim, and they put a shut-off valve on the waterline, which is very convenient. They put in little details like that, very experienced, very professional."

"EXCELLENT craftsmanship. Super high quality work. Very communicative - never ghosted us or left us in the dark. Five stars on all of that!! The only reason I don't give 5 stars overall is the timeline. We were originally quoted 8-10 weeks for our screened porch and it took a lot longer. There were things out of his control that contributed to that, so we understood. And again, he kept us in the loop. He also built us a new shed during that time and that slowed down the progress of the porch as well. We loved Calvin and would be happy to have him do more work for us."

"I highly recommend Julian to anyone seeking a professional, competent and caring interior designer.
Julian is a talented professional who coordinated every aspect of the redesign and was a joy with which to work.  Julian was there each step of the way to supervise all of the subcontractors involved in the job.  She was conscientious about making sure the redesign met my desires and that I was pleased after the selections had been made and installed.  Julian has great sources I never could have found on my own.  In addition, she never deviated from our discussed budget or made me feel pressured in any way.
My husband and I love all the changes Julian has made to our home and plan to use her again in the future.

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

The longest part of building a custom home is the design phase. It takes multiple professionals and a ton of work to bring your vision for your dream home to life while sticking to a homebuilding budget and also ensuring everything is built to code. Expect the design phase for a custom home build to take six months to a year.

You'll find Arts and Crafts homes across the country in varying styles. On the East Coast, bungalows and Tudor Revivals fill the Boston area through New Jersey. In the West, Mission-style homes incorporate terracotta shingles, white stucco siding, and rounded archways.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

Balancing aesthetics with functionality amidst space planning is important. To do so, you could consider consulting both an interior designer and an architect to fulfill both these needs. Or you can tackle it on your own by prioritizing personal touches amidst space planning that add to the look but don't take away from the livability of the space.

An architect is usually involved in the process of determining the layout and structural features and requirements of the home itself, taking into account the local codes, climate, and materials needed to make the home structurally sound. Architects may communicate more with contractors and subcontractors throughout the building process. In comparison to architects, interior designers typically focus on the aesthetics of a home interior and possibly exterior, helping the homeowner decide on color schemes, textures, and materials to incorporate into the design.
