"We too had an excellent experience with Triad. These guys really are the best. Professional, punctual, courteous and extremely skilled. I contacted them Thursday morning, had an estimate from them that afternoon, and they had a full crew out here hard at work the next day. Performed difficult tree removal in a very tight spot. They're exactly what you want in a tree service."

"The owner Lee is the one who did all of the cutting. He is very knowledgeable, efficient, safety was very noticeable, speed and quality of getting the job done AS DISCUSSED was right on the money of exactly what was agreed upon. I highly recommend him to anyone in the piedmont triad area to hire him for any of their tree work. I have already received another quote for him to come back and drop a couple more trees. He is that good. BEST QUOTE, yet HIGH QUALITY work!!!"

"I hired Richard to remove a pear tree from my yard. He and his crew arrived at the time promised. They did a great job cutting the tree down, removing the cuttings, cleaning the yard. and removing the stump. His team was hard working, professional and very courteous. The price for job was very reasonable and I will use him in the future for all my tree work. Pete H Lexington"

Small jobs welcome

"We had a rotted tree fall and damage the neighbors fence months ago. Browns Stump Removal came out days afterwards and provided a quote for repairs; even with the downed tree still in the way. It took a few months to get the area cleared so work could be done, and they not only were able to get out within a few weeks of re-contacting them, they also stood by their initial quoted rate. The job was done quickly and very well; and you can only tell there was any damage due to the brand-new wood. Would certainly hire again in the future."

"Wonderful!! They contacted me the same day I posted on Angi and took down the trees a few days later. They came back within a week to trim a couple bushes and lay all of the mulch! We also hired them to cut our grass for the season. They were prompt, reasonably priced, friendly and did a great job! I would definitely recommend them!"

"Josh cut a HUGE oak, an old maple, and trimmed limbs off an even larger poplar tree for us. First he came and gave us a free estimate and an approximate date. When he arrived, he did a great job! He was true to his estimate, and even came back to cut some of the larger pieces of trunk for us to make it more manageable. We wholeheartedly recommend Phipps Tree Service and will definitely use them again the next time!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Ideally, you should wait to prune until trees have gone dormant in late fall to early winter. The worst times to prune trees are early fall and late summer, as pruning them so close to dormancy makes it difficult for the tree recover before it goes dormant for the season.

Trees aren't big fans of moving, and they do go into shock during a transplant. Although most carefully thought-out tree transplants see the tree recover from the shock just fine, there is always a risk of having an unsuccessful move. Proper preparation, timing, and diligent aftercare are crucial to minimize the risks when transplanting a tree.

It’s not as common for Dutch elm disease to affect other types of trees, especially if the surrounding trees aren’t elms. However, it is possible for DED to spread to other trees, particularly in northern states, like Minnesota. In fact, it’s a good idea to use geography to identify wood and determine which types of trees are in your yard.

Unfortunately, the complex and shallow root system of elm trees makes surrounding elm trees particularly vulnerable to DED. Early discovery is key!

Make sure the tree roots soak around a day before you dig the tree up for the transplant. Keep the roots wet while the tree is above ground. After the transplant is finished, provide consistent water every day for the first month or so. You don’t want to overwater the tree, but you do want to keep the roots wet so they can thrive in their new environment.

In nature, there are many things that can cause a tree to die, including diseases, insects, and natural disasters such as fires or droughts. Non-natural methods of killing a tree include herbicides or manual intervention, such as cutting it down. Consult a tree removal professional about your options for naturally killing a tree.
