"Groundhog are literal pros!! Inquired about the Duke Energy Rebate program to add some insulation to my attic, and within 2 weeks they came and installed everything!! The price was incredibly reasonable, and I felt valued as one of their customers. Definitely recommend for your insulation needs!"

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Draft King Insulation to install spray foam insulation in our attic after meeting with Ben at our home, receiving their estimate, and checking their reviews. We are so happy with their work. They were able to do the entire job in one day, they were very professional, and they were patient with all our questions. We highly recommend Draft King Insulation."

"We did a comparison of two insulation companies and Parsons won. They were great to talk with, thorough in explaining the work they were going to do and fairly priced. The crew came to do the work today on time. They were friendly and courteous. They were clean and concerned for our home to make sure they left it as they found it. We had the foam insulation put in outside and they put insulation in attic. Both were done without a mess and the work was done as expected. I would definitely hire them in the future and recommend their company!"

"Price was about average, can't complain - don't remember exactly how much or exact service date (disclaimer).  Company screwed up the scheduling.  Installer was busy with personal life and we had to work around their schedule.  Inconvenient.  Came out and sprayed insulation in the garage.  They left the door open to the basement so the entire chemical smell inundated the basement.  The spray was general even but there seemed to be small holes and spaces generally through out the insulation.  When I inquired about the small spaces the response was they generally use the small spray cans you can get at Home Depot\Lowes but that they didn't have any.  I said I would take care of it myself, I had enough inconvenience with the screw up in scheduling.  Other than that went well - it's not that involved, just spray foam.
They did clean up the mess relatively well, but not perfect."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Options include bricks, natural stone, and concrete blocks. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and budget.

The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.

You should not leave drywall outside, especially overnight or in a wet, humid climate. Exposure to rain and humidity can damage the drywall, weakening its structural integrity and making it susceptible to mold growth. If you must leave drywall outside during a project, be sure to cover it with a tarp or keep it inside a storage shed to protect it. Even drywall intended for exterior projects requires a protective moisture barrier. For best results, store any extra drywall in a dry area away from the elements.

Plaster itself has a higher R-value than drywall. However, there are other considerations surrounding plaster and insulation. As a general rule, it's easier to obtain consistency in insulating value and quality when working with drywall rather than plaster. Plaster walls often don't contain any insulation behind the wall covering by design, and careful evaluation is necessary when choosing to add it.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.
