"[removed member name] I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the "Review" you posted on Angie's List. We are very interested in all of our client's responses. Our goal is to continually improve the QUALITY of our work and the SERVICE to our clients. Without people like yourself taking the time from your schedule to give us your feedback our improvements would be slow and arduous. Thank you! Rob"

I like working with this company. Rob Blake, the owner, is very professional. I called him because a hot water heater problem had revealed that the foam from a 2011 job had not filled the cavity in the wall as thought during the 2011 job.  I did not know if this only applied to the water heater closet or to the entire cabin.
Rob's response to my call was "That's why you have a lifetime warranty!"  Wow.  Not used to that.  Rob came out the next day and crawled around under the cabin and poked wires into outlet cavities and showed me that the foam was only thin in the water heater closet, and given the construction of the closet, that made sense.  Rob wanted to schedule a return within a few days to fix the problem before the weather got cold.  I asked him to bid the top floor of my house to do at the same time.
The fix was free and the top floor of my house was 3200.  So altogether, I have spent $7100 with retrofoam, to insulate three houses; one about 750 square feet; one about 450 square feet and one about 4,000 square feet.
As with the first job, the workers were polite, professional, hardworking and very thorough. They were very nice about things like taking down a bird feeder for me - not part of their job at all, and they were happy to help me with it.  They do have to come inside to listen for something when certain walls are being injected; they were always very polite, wiped their feet and so on.  They worked from 8 to 5 every day, and they did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves.  The job was planned for two days but took three.  They were very inobtrusive with my renter whose water heater closet they redid.  In fact, they removed some fiberglass insulation near the water heater placed during the water heater repairs not only because it was ineffective but because the type that was there was a potential fire hazard (the paper side was near the water heater).  This is pretty typical of them; they have gone above and beyond on every job for me.  They really do work as if they were insulating their own homes.  Very nice.
The only almost-rough spot is that my cabin and my house had to be drilled right through the exterior siding, and after the holes were plugged, we needed to repaint the house.  The 750- square foot house needed to be painted anyway so I didn't mind, and I planned the big house job to coincide with a painting soon after because I remembered that from last time, and it also was due for a repainting.  Rob tells me that only five houses so far have had to be done this way; but I would ask him before the job if the house will need to be repainted as it would have been a pretty rude shock to not realize this ahead of time.  I understand that most jobs do not result in a repainting, this was about the type of siding we had on our houses.
In fact. Rob offered to supply the labor to restain the plugs to match the siding, but since we are repainting soon, we didn't see any need.
The insulation has been astonishingly effective.  Not only in retaining temperature, but also the houses are now so very quiet.  This has been an excellent investment in our house, and we are very happy with the outcome.  Also, this is a very professional, easy to deal with company.

Price was about average, can't complain - don't remember exactly how much or exact service date (disclaimer).  Company screwed up the scheduling.  Installer was busy with personal life and we had to work around their schedule.  Inconvenient.  Came out and sprayed insulation in the garage.  They left the door open to the basement so the entire chemical smell inundated the basement.  The spray was general even but there seemed to be small holes and spaces generally through out the insulation.  When I inquired about the small spaces the response was they generally use the small spray cans you can get at Home Depot\Lowes but that they didn't have any.  I said I would take care of it myself, I had enough inconvenience with the screw up in scheduling.  Other than that went well - it's not that involved, just spray foam.
They did clean up the mess relatively well, but not perfect.

The experience was kind of mixed. They were very accommodating and they were very honest. As far as I can tell they did a good job. There were some things that I wasn’t really happy about but there were more things that I was happy about too. They make a big deal as to how well they clean up after their self but I had foam all over the place. I know they did clean and I saw them but it just the stuff, it’s messy. It was all over the place and I am still cleaning that up. They were disorganized and I talked to the owner about this and he was going to make some changes. He was receptive to it. They were disorganized about scheduling and getting the papers that they were supposed to get me. They were on time. They said they would call in on a certain day and they didn’t do that.

The installation was performed from the outside by drilling small holes through the cement separating the bricks, at the top and bottom of each stud cavity. After filling the cavities the matched the grout perfectly and it was not possible to see any of the injection points. I was extremely pleased, the process took about one day and when they finished the house looked exactly like it did before they started. An interesting side affect of the insulation is that the house is now eerily quiet. I have recommended Retrofoam of the Carolina's  tomy friends. I'm looking forward to their return with an infrared camera to demonstrate how effective their insulation is.

I was impressed first with their responsiveness and their professionalism.  Retrofoam was recommended to me by a friend who was very happy with their work.  They came next day to give me an estimate and make a plan with me.  I felt like $3990 was a reasonable price for the amount if work they proposed. Rob, the contractor, did a very thorough survey of the houses in question and found many places to caulk and/or grout that I had not noticed, and some places where water was damaging the structures.  He addressed all these issues.  I had him insulate several cinder block walls on the ground floor of my house; these walls were a huge energy drain in the winter, and he was able to fill these with insulation.  One cabin was rough built with stone, brick and panelling, and he was quite creative in finding ways to inject foam into the spaces between the materials. Work commenced about two weeks later.  The job was three full days, plus a follow up day two weeks later that allowed them to match the plugs they had removed from the side of the house.  Watching the job progress, I was not optimistic about the "you'll never know we were there" part of the claim, but by golly, they did clean up and patch exactly that well. I won't know until winter how much effect I got from the job, but my friend noticed a significant drop in his fuel and electricity bills, so I expect to see similar results. In contrast to contractors who make a fortune on upgrade costs, Rob was generous in doing small repairs he found as he went along at no extra charge.  Believe me, this earned him huge amounts of credibility in my book. The crew was very polite and respectful and professional, cleaned up after themselves very well, and did not destroy my landscaping as I feared they might.  Rob monitored them closely and was quick to have them redo areas he felt like were not perfect.  When Rob was not on site, his workers were quick to come ask me to examine and approve tricky areas of work, for example, where they caulked around a stone fireplace, to be sure I was satisfied with ow their workmanship looked. I am extremely impressed with this group and will have them do about $3,000 more work at the end of the summer, finishing reinsulating the largest house.
