"Mark and his crew went above and beyond what we had hoped. He provided skilled design advice, advised us on available materials, and listened carefully to our requests, always ready if necessary to say you really don t want to do it that way. The whole crew was easy to work with and we highly recommend any or all of them if you re building or refurbishing decking."

"I needed stair tread repairs to our deck. During a severe hurricane several years ago a large tree limb fell on the steps, and eventually the treads started rotting. While he was here, I also decided to add some simple shelving to the inside of our shed. He responded to my posting on Angi by calling me very quickly, just a few minutes actually. He came to my house within a day, looked everything over and gave me an estimated cost. He gave me an approximate start date and he finished all the work in one day, and did a very good cleanup before he asked me to review his work. I will definitely recommend him to my neighbors, and I will call him first if I have other carpentry work needed on my home."

"Highly recommend. I had several repairs needed around my house. Gault met with me within one day, carefully reviewed all of my items, and provided thoughtful perspectives. I expressed that one repair was particularly urgent and Gault worked with me to have the work performed the very next day. The work was done with very high quality and professionalism. I am very satisfied and look forward to potential future engagements. The urgent work we had done was replacing a load bearing 6x6 leg on my screened-in porch."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

Removing a load-bearing wall affects the structural integrity of your home, so you’ll need a permit before starting the work. Building codes vary by municipality, and obtaining a permit and having the work inspected after completion will ensure you’re in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.
