"This was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had with a service. DO NOT DO IT. SAVE YOURSELF. He was insanely rude from the jump, he would NOT let me finish a single sentence before cutting in to talk over me, either to tell me I’m wrong or just completely change the subject of what I was saying. He refused to accept that there was an issue with my dryer just because it wasn’t overflowing with lint. I had to call my fiancé home from work to be there with me to deal with this guy. Honestly he kept taking over my fiancé too so it wasn’t just a me being a woman thing at least. My fiancé finally had to ask him if he was going to actually open up the dryer and look at it and Mike agreed. Just to then immediately say “somethings not right here” over and over. Wow. Who would’ve thought something weird was happening. The issue I called him out for he still insists is me overreacting because we just replaced something else on the dryer causing a burning smell. Rude to tell your customer they’re overreacting but whatever, I supposed. I am overly cautious about smelling a burning smell from my dryer, but I’m not gonna accept that I’m in the wrong for it. He made it seem like I was in hysteria over it, when I was just trying to explain the situation. Which he wouldn’t ever let me get out without interruption. We were having an issue, I called an “expert” out for said issue, what’s the problem? He could’ve had an easy day and quick money off of someone who was just unsure of what they were dealing with and wanted to make sure they got someone who did know. Instead I had to have an argument with a 68 year old man about how not to talk to people. $206 for a simple part replacement that could’ve taken two minutes for any normal human being who knew what they were looking at. Unprofessionalism aside, insane pricing. But hey, I learned many things today. Mostly how to save $206 and to never ever use Mike’s appliance services again. Anyway, avoid this guy at all costs. God forbid you want to do laundry worry free. Ol Mikey boy will be there to make you feel stupid for being concerned and wanting to be safe. Adding to this for Angi’s site specifically too: Angi should be ashamed for endorsing this business. I regret using this site to find someone. Never again."

"Contractor was selected by our home warranty company after paying our service fee. Contractor did come to diagnose the problem with our dishwasher. He called our home warranty company and the work was approved. Part was ordered. I received an email saying the part had arrived and to schedule an appointment on the contractors website. I scheduled the appointment and no one showed up at the scheduled time or the time allotted for a technician to show up. I called and emailed the contractor with no response. After about a week I spoke to the contractor and he apologized that I wasn't contacted about the part. Apparently the emailed I received was automated and that I should have waited until he contacted me to let me know that the part had arrived. He apologized again said that the part in question should arrive the next or the following day and that he would contact me. Fast forward two weeks and the same story. I would strongly encourage anyone that appreciates good customer service to not use Phoenix Appliance Repair our of McLeansville, NC."

"On 02/05/2024, T&C came to our home. At the home visit, they diagnosed our refrigerator's broken ice machine and stated that the cost, including the part and labor, totaled $605.90. The representative stated that we needed to pay the total cost up front because the company could not order the part without our payment. Sympathetic to the limitations of a small repair company, we chose to pay the above amount in full on 02/05/2024, the day the representative came to the home and diagnosed the issue regarding the broken ice machine. On 02/05/2024, we received the receipt via email re the item to our email address for $605.90 confirming our payment. Sometime in March, having not heard from the company regarding updates since the date we requested service for the item, we reached out to the merchant via phone call. When we asked what the status was of ordering the part and the expected repair date, we were told the part had not been ordered yet. During this phone call, we asked for a refund. From that day through May of 2024 (after FOUR months of our constant follow-ups, disputes with our credit card company, filings with the Better Business Bureau, etc.) T&C has STILL not issued us our refund. They also threatened to file restraining orders against us simply because we wanted a refund for services we paid for and did not receive. Our last two phone calls with this company were with the owner who was quite frankly belligerent and threatened to file a restraining order against us for following up with them regarding our refund. There are truly not enough words to describe how awful this company is. Use this company at your own risk. I fully anticipate that they will respond to this review with a variety of untruths as that is how they operate as you will hopefully see from their comments on other’s negative reviews."

Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

Choosing between a gas vs. electric dryer comes down to individual needs. A gas dryer tends to have faster drying times and is more energy-efficient, which may be a better choice for you if you have access to affordable natural gas and have a high volume of laundry. However, an electric dryer has a lower upfront cost, is easier to install, and may be more suitable if your home doesn’t have a gas connection. When determining which type of dryer is best for you, factors such as energy costs, installation requirements, budgets, and personal preferences should be considered.

Most appliance retailers have dedicated installation teams that can tackle the delivery and installation process simultaneously. Unfortunately, just because a retailer sells a specific appliance brand doesn’t mean that its installation technicians are certified by that manufacturer to complete the installation. You could end up with a voided warranty if the installer isn't certified, costing more money down the road. It’s best to find an installer that is certified by your appliance manufacturer, even if it means paying more or dealing with potential scheduling conflicts.

No, it's not advisable to only replace the outside AC unit connected to your system. AC units are designed to work as a cohesive system, and older units work differently than newer units. Therefore, replacing only one component can lead to incompatibilities that affect the system’s performance. Replacing one component can void your warranty, costing you money for repairs.

Yes, electric-start snow blowers need to be plugged in to start, but you can unplug them and go once they’re up and running. Simply plug the snow blower into an outdoor outlet and press the start button. Once it starts, you can unplug it and use it freely. The idea for these types of snow blowers is to simplify the starting process from the typical pull-string starts.

Oven elements, despite being relatively inexpensive, can last between five and 10 years. Obviously this depends heavily on their usage and if they are kept clean and undamaged. Avoiding spills and cleaning your oven regularly can help extend its life.
