T&C Appliance Repair/ HVAC

On 02/05/2024, T&C came to our home. At the home visit, they diagnosed our refrigerator's broken ice machine and stated that the cost, including the part and labor, totaled $605.90. The representative stated that we needed to pay the total cost up front because the company could not order the part without our payment. Sympathetic to the limitations of a small repair company, we chose to pay the above amount in full on 02/05/2024, the day the representative came to the home and diagnosed the issue regarding the broken ice machine. On 02/05/2024, we received the receipt via email re the item to our email address for $605.90 confirming our payment. Sometime in March, having not heard from the company regarding updates since the date we requested service for the item, we reached out to the merchant via phone call. When we asked what the status was of ordering the part and the expected repair date, we were told the part had not been ordered yet. During this phone call, we asked for a refund. From that day through May of 2024 (after FOUR months of our constant follow-ups, disputes with our credit card company, filings with the Better Business Bureau, etc.) T&C has STILL not issued us our refund. They also threatened to file restraining orders against us simply because we wanted a refund for services we paid for and did not receive. Our last two phone calls with this company were with the owner who was quite frankly belligerent and threatened to file a restraining order against us for following up with them regarding our refund. There are truly not enough words to describe how awful this company is. Use this company at your own risk. I fully anticipate that they will respond to this review with a variety of untruths as that is how they operate as you will hopefully see from their comments on other’s negative reviews.

Absolute scammers, do not use. There are plenty of handymen in Burlington who so honest work for reasonable prices and this company is not one of them. They should be ashamed of how they conduct this “business”

Echoing the last review because we had a similar experience and it seems like something fishy is going on here. After a flood to our lower level, our insurance company needed us to have someone come look at our washer and dryer to assess if there was damage. We also needed our new dishwasher to be realigned. We called and asked how much this would cost, and they told us $150. They came and glanced at the washer/dryer to determine that it had no damage (took 5 minutes), then spent ~10 minutes taking out the dishwasher and putting it back. We were then charged $257 with no explanation for why it was over $100 more than they told us it would be. We sent 4+ emails and called 5+ times trying to receive an explanation and got no response. When we called with another number, someone finally picked up (seemed like they had been screening our calls), and were told that the excess charge was due to how much labor they had to do. Again, they looked at the washer/dryer to access that it was fine, and reinstalled the dishwasher. They were at our house for less than 20 minutes. We asked for an itemized invoice to understand how they could have arrived at this higher number, but what they sent us provided no information beyond the total cost. Repeated attempts to follow up about this were ignored.

Making this post because I wish someone would have warned me - they are scammers - I don’t believe the man who came and looked 2 minutes at my washer was qualified in anything but assuring that he received the 75 dollar trip fee - they never called back then when I called they quoted and outlandish amount knowing that you could get a brand new product for less - so they con people for a trip fee- I tried to call back to get address and managers name because I want to go to small claims court and they blocked me - It’s the principal about the whole con artist and scamming people- YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY

I called T&C and explained the situation and Terry was there by 11:00 am. Within 5 minutes he had diagnosed and found the problem. He then made the necessary repairs and had it back up and running in a short time. He also gave us some tips on what to do if this ever happened again. I recommend T&C and should I have any problems with any of my appliances in the future I know who to call. Thanks Terry.

Great service. Terry and Ryan arrived in the promised time window. Terry first inquired about the cause of the error message and what I had tried to resolve. We cut off electricity and he went to work investigating the current status of overflow water in the bottom of the machine. He provided a lot of explanation and answered questions as he worked. His diagnosis of the issue causing the alarm makes sense and he used a very practical low-key approach to resolve. He spent time checking that the dishwasher would run and no water overflow recurred. Along the way he educated me about how I needed to change the detergent/amount that I was using as well as the need to do a monthly maintenance run with vinegar. He also spent a minute educating me how to utilize the panel more effectively. It is obvious he has been in this line of work for a long time and has a great amount of knowledge. Since we are in the midst of the COVID Delta surge I appreciated that they stayed masked throughout their work.

The company was efficient and good about all questions and keeping me informed. Terry, who did the assessment and the work, was friendly, kind, and professional. I would definitely use this company again should a need arise,

Recent problems with my oven door required a repair. Luckily i was able to find T&C Appliance Repair. They were able to repair our oven here at home so it was stress-free. The T&C staff were prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. I plan to use them in the future. By the way we live in Chapel Hill and they were able to service this area.

TL:DR: GET A PAPER RECEIPT FROM THESE GUYS! This pains me (first negative Angie's list review), but we have been trying to get our leaky fridge fixed since December. After Terry installed a new icemaker in early December, it was then diagnosed that our water pressure too high -which we immediately had fixed (and validated AGAIN after it kept leaking in early January). We now cannot get a return call to even get an invoice so I can order the valve myself. I repeat: we have NEVER received an invoice. We get their emails for appointments, but NEVER received an invoice. I've called DAILY for a week now and have NEVER received a call back. How hard is it for them to send even a TEST email to even 1 of the 2 emails I verbally gave them?? Last straw was when they did not show for a scheduled appointment; I was HOME all day, and called at the end of the hour window. Her response: "His GPS showed he was there." And so I had to wait over a week for a reschedule (which did NOT fix the leaky valve). I called back and told her I have cameras at my house: no response, no apologies, NO accountability! I mentioned this to Terry when he came by and he said "oh yeah, it was a different guy (new?) We had problems with him." Terry was very polite every time coming over, but his receptionist (wife?) is rude, saying "it cuts both ways" when I said I couldn't take her word that they had sent an invoice via email -after she INSISTED I didn't answer the door for an appointment that it turns out THEY DIDN"T SHOW UP FOR!

I have used this company once before for an appliance repair. Both times, an appointment was made quickly, I was notified of when technician would arrive on the day of service, and technician was on time and courteous. For this latest service, two visits were required. On the first problem was quickly identified and cost revealed. A part was needed and came in exactly when expected. Part was installed on the second day and, once again, I was notified of arrival time and technician arrived on schedule.

Arrived on time even called to let me know he was on the way! Was very professional and friendly!

Highly recommend. Family owned so you interact directly with the owner. Professional and honest. Pricing very reasonable. Came the same day we called and got parts in very quickly. Excellent experience.

Excellent service, timely and very knowlegable.

Technician came out next day, and immediately diagnosed the problem. He explained what happened, and ordered a part. He mentioned it could take a couple of days for the part to come in, then would have to schedule to come back out. He gave me the price of the total job right then and there. This technician actually slipped on paper booties on his shoes before coming into my home. how many service companies do that! wonderful. But he actually came back the very NEXT day with the part, and it was already late in the afternoon, but he said he did not want me to go another day without using my dryer. He was incredibly honest, professional, integrity, and fair with pricing. I liked knowing exactly how much the job would cost the first day he came out. I will not hesitate to hire him again, and I am going to hire him to do my company's preventive maintenance. I am having issues with my washer, and he gave me tips on how to extend the life of my washer. If you want honesty, knowledgeable technician, and integrity, you need look no further that this company. Their website is wonderful too.

A tech came out on the same day to fix my unit. He squeezed me in the schedule last minute. They were friendly, professional and quick!! I will use them again.

Contacted them, told them what was happening and that I desperately needed my dryer fixed, if possible before we left. I honestly didn't think they would come out, being as far from town as we are, and it being a Friday night. I was so wrong, and so glad I called!!! Terrence came out, very professional, was here within the time I was told he would be here, fixed the heating element in the dryer, and I was drying our clothes within a few hours of contacting them! I am definitely going to continue to use them and was very impressed with my experience.
