"Over a period of about 16 months, C&J Construction Services performed extensive renovations on my 155 year-old house.  They started in January 2012 with exterior renovations, which included new shingles and exterior trim, new windows and doors, new porch, entryway and roof (including replacement of underlay), as well as a new bulkhead, rebuilt chimney, and stonework around the exterior. All were done with my input on designand preference and the workl was carried out with exceptional attention to quality materials and workmanship - reflecting an exceptional level of skill and motivation to do a quality job.

|After a few months' break, we undertook the interiors and worked collaboratively on demo and renovation of nearly the entire interior, inclding the installation of a kitchen appliances and granite countertops, a new shower and new sinks and toilet fixtures in two bathrooms, including the structural underlay to accommodate a 100 year-old footed tub that come with the house.

|I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of the project. I enjoyed getting to know Charlie Hunt and his personable and skilled team who allowed me to "help out" with demo, painting and design suggestions and more. I am planning on using C&J again for Phase 3 of the project."

"Joe from JMS Drain Services was my service technician who arrived well within the window scheduled service time. Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. I was pleased he resolved my clogged sink so quickly so I could rest after a night's work. Thank you again, Joe."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Refinishing a bathtub is a project you can do at the same time as refinishing a porcelain sink. If your tub is the same age as your sink, consider getting a quote. Most homeowners spend about $480 on the cost of refinishing a bathtub, but it ranges between $335 and $630, depending on the size, style, and material of the tub.

Yes, plumber's putty ensures a solid bond between the drain assembly and sink. Silicone is a good alternative if you prefer not to use plumber's putty. However, plumber's putty typically isn't visible from the outside of the drain, as you can wipe away any excess when done.

The time it takes to install a sink depends on whether you hire a professional or do it yourself, as well as the complexity of the job. A professional plumber can typically install a sink in 1 to 4 hours, with most routine jobs taking around 1 to 2 hours. However, more complicated installations will take longer. Projects that involve rerouting plumbing, installing an under-mount sink, or making countertop modifications can take a full day. Installing a sink with a prefab vanity could also stretch the project to 6 to 8 hours. If you plan to install the sink yourself, you should set aside 4 to 6 hours, though it could take longer. It's also recommended to have a friend help, especially if you are working with a heavy sink made of a material like porcelain.

The cost to fix a leaky pipe ranges depending on location—the easier the pipe is to access, the less expensive the repair will be. Because a leaky pipe under the sink is typically an exposed pipe, this is one of the least expensive repairs for a plumber to do, often costing between $150 to $300 to fix, on average.

Yes, you can usually replace a sink without replacing the vanity. It really depends on the type of vanity and the type of sink. You’ll need to make sure you purchase a sink that will fit in the existing space. This requires precise measurements. You’ll also have to carefully remove your old sink, making sure you don’t damage the countertop during the replacement.
