"If anyone is looking to finish their garage or detached garage and loft you should consider securing Silas and his team! They are professional, punctual and dedicated to getting the job done RIGHT and most importantly, to your liking! He and his team did our insulation, drywall, paint, baseboards, and flooring! Silas communicates each day his comings, goings, and next steps. He and his team worked long hours to get the job done and we could not be happier with how our project turned out! He even, hung the curtains over the steps as we would not have been able to do it ourselves! I highly recommend Silas C. Drywall!!!"

"E&A Drywall took on multiple challenging jobs for us, in our 120 year old historic home. The final result was exactly what we asked for. They went above and beyond, were very professional and courteous, arriving promptly each morning and cleaning up after themselves. We re planning to use their services again and would definitely recommend E&A Drywall!"

"We were very pleased with the final product. We had drywall hung in our bedroom ceiling & 2 closets. The contractors were on time, and met the scheduled time table to complete the project. The contractors were friendly, courteous, and answered all our questions. The contractor was flexible on the scope of the project, and price was more then reasonable and within our budget. The contractors took away the major debris. The only con was the project area was left with sanding dust in the room. With that being said I would hire them on future projects"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

It is possible to apply plaster on the interior or exterior of your home, but we don’t recommend it. Plaster is easy to apply in theory, but in reality, it can be a challenging material to work with, and it’s difficult to get the finished product to look clean, even, and smooth. Many DIYers end up calling in a professional afterward to touch up the area or even redo it entirely because of mistakes they made in the process. Hiring a plaster pro will cost more, but it’s usually the best option to achieve high-quality results.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.
