"I cannot say enough good things about All Points Carpet Care. The owner was very responsive, and called before the consultation and appointment just to verify that the times were correct and that they were on the way. The quote was very affordable, and he estimated the time needed for the job almost exactly, and was able to schedule me right away. The carpets in my entire house were stretched where needed and cleaned thoroughly. He made my carpets look like new and I would absolutely hire him again. By far one of the most professional people I have used in my history of owning a home and I'm thrilled with the results."

"Tim, the Sales Associate was knowledgable and was able to match the correct type of carpet for our needs. He was able to move up the installation date which helped us tremendously since we couldn't move in until the carpets were installed. The installers were professional and did an ecellent job. I would definitely use them again."

"Scott and Mark were great! They did a fantastic job under circumstances that were not easy (unfortunately my circuit breaker on the upstairs due to the age of my home kept tripping and poor Mark kept having to reset it every 5 minutes. He did it without a single complaint and even with a smile on his face!) I also hired them to clean my entire home. This was so convenient for me because time is not always on my side due to my work schedule. The outcome was nothing but perfect. The carpets look new, smell fresh and clean and the stretched carpet looks amazing!!!!!! The price was great! Scott and Mark were professional, fast and couldn't have been nicer with a touch of humor!!!!!! I would highly recommend them, in fact, my Mom who was with me and loved the job they did will be calling them to stretch her carpets."

Carpet Stretching FAQs, answered by experts

Standard padding works like a sponge. It absorbs liquid, soaking up every drop of moisture that hits it. Moisture barrier padding does the opposite because it has a waterproof coating made of plastic film, rubber, or treated foam. It doesn’t absorb spills and keeps them on the surface instead, so you can clean them up before they damage your subfloor.

It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

There are many types of carpet repairs that you might experience in your home, depending on the activity level in your home. Snags and tears are relatively common, especially if you have pets or tend to move furniture around often. Some other carpet repairs you might need include:

  • Burn damage

  • Water damage

  • Pet damage

  • Loose carpet

  • Severe stains
