"Brent, Keith and their entire crew were amazing to work with. They are honest, did exactly what they said they'd do, and did it on time. We went over the estimate as we had additional work done because they were so good to work with. The sub-contractors they have - plumber, electrician (installed a kitchenette in the lower level) and concrete mason (we had a window put in a 12" thick cement block wall) - all did superb work and arrived when K&B said they would as well. We will definitely have them do more work for us moving forward."

"Trevor has been an amazing contractor who has helped us through the process of installing a large interior door for an office. He has helped ensure the space was properly prepared for installation of the door. The other contractors who have assisted Trevor have also exceeded my expectations. They have been extremely detail oriented and have done everything to ensure the best outcome. I would definitely work with Trevor for any future projects."

"This multi task job needed a well qualified contractor who had a variety of skills from carpentry electricity, plumbing to tile setting to name a few. John Kent was definitely the right skilled person for this multiphase bathroom renovation project. He is knowledgeable, professional, conscientious and very well organized in performing each phase of this complete renovation. Besides planning well, he takes a lot of pride in his workmanship . He works very meticulous and is a craftsman in every project he undertakes. He undoubtedly wants his customers to be pleased with the work he does. John along with his female helper work very hard and well together. They are truly nice, pleasant, comfortable individuals to work with. They communicate well and keep the customer update about each phase. As a result we now have a new updated bathroom that we will enjoy for many years. Furthermore, we would do this whole project again especially knowing that Handy Home Helpers would be doing the job. They are the best very contractors available. Believe me you can't go wrong hiring them . We would never hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to our friends. Handy Home Helpers are the very best and you will be completely satisfied."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Our experience with David Green and his group has been outstanding! The Green Finn Group practices with the highest integrity and dedication to their clients. Our project had to be done without us onsite, as we live four hours away. We hesitated about whether this type of remodel would be frustrating. We debated as to whether it could be reasonably handled from a distance. David proved to us that it could! He was excellent with communicating with us, always followed through immediately and met every deadline that we asked him to meet. We could not be more pleased with our finished project. We highly recommend the Green Finn Group for any remodel project, large or small. It was refreshing and a privilege to work with such excellent contractors in remodeling our dream vacation cottage!"

"After requesting a quote from three contractors on Angie's List, Tomas was the only one who replied back saying he would be glad to come by and give me a quote. I have a small home with vinyl siding that I wanted painted. Tomas was very prompt on the quote. And it was very reasonable. I told him to go ahead and do the job. I couldn't be happier. Very professional from the get go. He and his crew did a thorough pressure wash and was back promptly to do the paint job. He had a rep from Sherwin-Williams come by so I could consult with him about painting vinyl siding. The house looks great. I highly recommend Tomas and TM Projects for any home improvement projects you may be considering. I will certainly use him again."

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.

Most Cape Cod houses are two stories tall at the peak, although they’re considered one-and-a-half stories tall because the steep roof pitch cuts off a portion of the living space on the second story. Unless you raise the roof on your Cape Cod house to add a dormer, the interior rooms upstairs will lose some usable living space to the sloped ceilings.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

Removing a load-bearing wall affects the structural integrity of your home, so you’ll need a permit before starting the work. Building codes vary by municipality, and obtaining a permit and having the work inspected after completion will ensure you’re in compliance with all applicable regulations.
