"Absolutely Fantastic I have worked with many wonderful contractors over the years but Rick Cox (dba Carolina Carpenter) is at the top of the list. He and his son, Josh, are extremely talented, resourceful and get the job done at a reasonable cost. They and the electrician, plumber and other professionals they use are delightful to work with and of the highest honesty and integrity. In June 2018 my wife and I purchased a house in Connestee Falls, Brevard, NC which was beautifully located but in need a great deal of work. After interviewing a number of contractors, we chose Rick because of his directness, obvious competence and easy manner. The renovation required complete gutting of the core areas, including the removal of several walls and a faux stone wood-burning fireplace. Rick started while we were still in NY and when we arrived in mid-August, he had neatly removed the fireplace. In the following 11 months, he replaced it with gas burning fireplaces in the living room and adjoining Master Bedroom (a very difficult thing to do in the space we had), expanded the rear hall, closed several exterior windows, installed 4 exterior windows and sliding doors, re-floored, re-sided and painted most of the common areas, rebuilt and upgraded the stairway to the lower level and put in a fantastic new kitchen. The project cost six figures and encountered many setbacks as removal of walls and floors exposed poor electrical work and many other preexisting deficiencies. However, in each case, Rick, Josh and his associates developed creative solutions and, as we went along, they helped us refine our vision of what we wanted so that the finished product far exceeded our initial expectations. With his fine carpentry expertise, Rick provided a new beamed ceiling and log mantle and wood work around the new living room fireplace which is itself the artistic focal point of the room. He also transformed an eye-sore half wall into a beautiful built-in cabinet which is integral to the new dining area. Rick and Josh work quietly and efficiently and are upfront about timelines and their availability. In fact, when the demands of a difficult new client caused them to fall behind the timeline they set, they worked on weekends to get current. You would be fortunate to have Rick and Josh working with you. We were. They came as workmen but stayed as friends. "To use the old saying, "Paul goes the extra mile," is an understatement. Paul goes an extra two miles. Paul Ragan is a friendly professional. Paul does not believe in short cuts. The job took a few of days which was agreed upon and reasonable. Something you don't see from many contractors is that each and every end of the work day he cleaned the jobsite. On my job Paul worked with his son Brandon, also a true friendly professional. A question always asked is, would you hire Paul again, without a doubt. If fact we gave his name and number to someone we know looking to remodel a bathroom. We went over the estimate as we had additional work done because they were so good to work with. The sub-contractors they have - plumber, electrician (installed a kitchenette in the lower level) and concrete mason (we had a window put in a 12" thick cement block wall) - all did superb work and arrived when K&B said they would as well. "After requesting a quote from three contractors on Angie's List, Tomas was the only one who replied back saying he would be glad to come by and give me a quote. I have a small home with vinyl siding that I wanted painted. Tomas was very prompt on the quote. And it was very reasonable. I told him to go ahead and do the job. I couldn't be happier. Very professional from the get go. He and his crew did a thorough pressure wash and was back promptly to do the paint job. He had a rep from Sherwin-Williams come by so I could consult with him about painting vinyl siding. The house looks great. "Upon contacting Matt, I asked if he was available for small jobs, which he advised that he was and that he had an hourly rate. We agreed upon a scheduled date and time for him to perform the work and that he would call prior to arrival so that I could get my pets put up and out of the way.  Matt arrived as scheduled and installed cabinet door. He then went around and tightened all the screws on all the cabinet doors as an added precaution.
