"My installer, Jose, was amazing! He was so accommodating to fit my schedule in a short timeframe. Jose was professional and very knowledgeable about installing tile. He installed my tile quickly and was very clean while working. I would definitely recommend Jose for tile work. Jose is also a great handyman because he also installed my TV on the wall which was difficult to do because the wall was covered in porcelain tile. THANK YOU, JOSE!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!"

"It was fine.

It was just normal.

Normal what I expected, I can't say it was anything magnanimous or what have you, I needed the carpets clean as well and I needed the tile clean, I had expect the tiles to be a little bit cleaner but yeah no big sweat that I needed to do it so it was okay."

"Sales person was knowledgable; should have gone over or pointed out more info on paperwork regarding cost if you bucked out- workmen one, more experienced but a bit rushed at the end of job; the other did a bit of sloppy tile work but fixed by company. My complaints were heard, addressed quickly & to my satisfaction."

"The tile in bathroom shower had a thick coating (scum) on the bottom that I was unable to remove.  Also some of the tiles were cracked and needed new grout placed between them. He removed several of the tiles on the floor along the seam where water had gotten beneath and did necessary repair.  He was meticulous with the quality of his work and did not take breaks.  He was punctual and very responsive to any questions or suggestions.  He also applied grout along the back of my kitchen counter where it had loosened and where it met the backsplash.  He worked nonstop for a day and a half and charged only $375.00 for the shower restoration (looks like a new shower) and $40.00 for the kitchen work.  He was aIways professional and I  definitely would use him again in the future.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.

Regardless of the material, basic square tiles will never go out of style. Neutral colors like white, grey, beige, and black will always be in demand in residential and commercial settings. Certain designs, like herringbone and hexagonal patterns, are considered timeless. Porcelain and porcelain-like tiles will also never go out of style.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.
