"Our neighbor in the condo below ours reported water leaking into the ceiling of her kitchen. We contacted RotoRooter Fayetteville (aka Kowkowski Plumbing) to detect and repair the source of the leak. Jay Jackson arrived (late) on 6/16/2022. He inspected our neighbor's kitchen ceiling as well as every plumbing fixture in our unit (kitchen sink, dishwasher, all of the bathroom fixtures and connections in the laundry room). He could not find any standing water or evidence of a leak in our condo so he contacted his office for additional assistance. His supervisor and additional technicians responded. After reviewing the situation they decided the only way to find the leak would be to: "remove ceiling in downstairs apt to find leak from apt above". It was the end of the day and we were told that before any work could/would be done they required a deposit of $2500 up front. Work would not begin until the following afternoon (6/17/22) at the earliest. When Jay Jackson arrived on that date he wanted me to sign an open ended contract with multiple blank (incomplete) sections that referred to binding terms on a water mitigation agreement (supposedly attached). The mitigation agreement had never been proposed, discussed or reviewed. It was not attached nor was one available. Jay Jackson could not answer any questions. His supervisor (Michael?), was upset by my questions and unwilling to give me an explanation for performing "restoration work" before locating and repairing the leak. He was rude, argumentative and forgot he was dealing with a consumer of the product his business provides. At this point we decided to exercise our perogative to employ a different plumber. We informed Jay of our decision. We also contacted his office. We asked them to refund our deposit, less any service charge for their inspection ($218.28!!!), which had not been quoted previously. Buyer beware! Not all franchise companies stand up to the service you expect with "name recognition". We cannot, in good faith, recommend this company."

Regional Foundation & Crawl Space Repair isn't your typical company of contractors, but we make the search for a responsible and trustworthy contractor rather easy. We're a member of the internationally renowned Basement Systems, Inc. basement waterproofing network, where you'll find a network of dealers devoted to the important guidelines of respect, integrity and responsibility. We want to meet your needs and wherever possible, we even want to exceed your expectations! Additional phones - (800) 536-6260, (919) 605-4110, (919) 982-1239, (919) 422-3206.

"I had a flood for the first time in the crawlspace and basement. I called Regional Foundation & Crawlspace Repair to come out. They wanted 27K for crawlspace encapsulation, that was too much and I could do most the work myself. I instead paid them $5,000.00 to bury a geodrain and install a triple safe sump pump system. This is the job they did, they installed the sump pumps at the 3rd to lowest point in the crawlspace and this geodrain goes back and forth from uphill to downhill. The lowest point still allows water to flood downstairs. They also cracked a chunk of my foundation at the point of sump pumps egress. Outside they just threw rocks on ground were the water comes out and can get back into the ground to reenter the crawlspace. They got 1 star because the people were nice, their job was not. Update as of 4/23/2024 they contacted me and said they wanted to make sure everything was good. A Girl and guy came out and noticed a couple things I didn't and said they would fix it that their company does not do work like that. They dug up all the previous geodrain and moved it to walls, tried to level out the drain and changed the location of the pumps and the drain outside. She had a really good work ethic and never took a break. The guy was on the other side of house and think he did good too. Everything they did looked professional and looks like they fixed everything. They had to come back today to finish the work today, but had three of them. It all looks good and they tested everything. They apologized about the old work and were not sure went wrong, but I don't have a negative view of the company now and am satisfied with the work they did. Just nocking one star for the under trained individuals that came the first time, the second crew was great!"

"From the very start in meeting Stuart I knew that this company was by far one of the best in the industry. He was extremely knowledgeable about exactly what type of system to install along with carefully listening to what mine and my wife's needs were so that he could make sure to meet them, which he fully did. Two thumbs up to Stuart along with Jeremy and Robb who came out and did an amazing job on our whole house water filtration system install. It was also very impressive that there is still a company out there that when they say they will be there, they are! Very punctual and the follow-up was superb. Jeremy and Robb were very detailed in making sure everything was done 100% correct and that no mistakes were made along the way in installing the system. I absolutely love the fact of being thorough and doing it right the first time! A+++++++ for a job well done and a great reputable company that stands behind their word! I would highly recommend calling them if you are thinking about getting a water system or upgrading from an older one of any kind. You will feel super comfortable from the first time meeting Stuart or his team and knowing that you are working with, in my opinion "The Best Water Company" out there!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

You can fix a leaking outdoor spigot by replacing the washer, tightening the bonnet, or replacing the spigot altogether. Turn off the water supply and open the spigot to see the issue. You may need to tighten the bonnet by 1/8- to 1/4-inch of a turn. You might also need to see if the washer is damaged or worn. If those fixes don’t stop the leak, you should replace the outdoor spigot. Consider a frost-proof sillcock to prevent future freezes and leaking.

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

Since pedestal sinks are narrow and don’t have a cupboard to conceal pipes, many homeowners change their plumbing to make it less visible. It’s a big reason why installing a pedestal sink is more labor-intensive than other types.

Yes, pipes can freeze during the winter months. If temps dip below 20 degrees Fahrenheit for six or more hours, your insulated pipes are more at risk, while uninsulated pipes can freeze if temps fall below 32 degrees for around 12 hours. Exterior pipes are more likely to freeze than interior pipes. The best way to prevent freezing pipes is by insulating your pipes, keeping your home’s temperature above 55 degrees, opening cabinets and doors containing pipes to promote circulation, dripping faucets, and disconnecting hoses.

To keep your toilet in good working order, replace the toilet fill valve every five years. Toilets get quite a workout, so while toilet maintenance may not be on top of your to-do list, it’s essential to keep up with it to ensure your toilet is in good working order and ready when needed.
