"It went perfectly. We just needed tile around the top and sides of a new shower. The tile was perfect. Cost was appropriate. Jose and his son were polite. We would hire them again."

"This is the second time I have hired Domenico with Dolce Casa to install some flooring. He installed tile and backsplash in my kitchen and then wood flooring throughout the house. Domenico is very professional and friendly. His work is very diligent and the outcome is fantastic. All the rooms that he has worked on look incredible. I absolutely plan to hire Domenico for any future projects. All around great experience working with him."

"Cesar and his team are the absolute best! They take pride in their work and do it right. And, their prices are lower than all my other quotes! Cesar and his team did all of our LVP, converted carpeted stairs to hardwood and stained it to match our LVP, the bedroom carpet and the master porcelain tile shower. Cesar really has an artist’s eye for making sure the patterns don’t repeat and do look natural... like real wood or marble. You will not regret hiring these guys!"

"We had a porcelain tile floor installed in our kitchen and entryway. It was done in two days, and he came back right away when a couple of tiles needed to be replaced. They worked really hard. It looks nice."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

Regardless of the material, basic square tiles will never go out of style. Neutral colors like white, grey, beige, and black will always be in demand in residential and commercial settings. Certain designs, like herringbone and hexagonal patterns, are considered timeless. Porcelain and porcelain-like tiles will also never go out of style.

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.
