"I called Alarm Protection Group AFTER my office was burglarized. Now I feel SAFE. William is great to work with. He's neat and tidy, prompt, presentable - not a butt-crack type of guy, and he doesn't leave a mess in his wake. He's also knowledgeable about the equipment and only uses high-quality products."

Small jobs welcome

"John did a very good with a somewhat tricky, not 'off-the-shelf' job. A 'precision engineered' (everything has to be precisely mounted and aligned for the doors to work properly) French entry door set had gotten out of adjustment due to settling in a 100+ year old house. The doors would close but wouldn't lock because of misalignments due to sagging. The doors had built-in adjustment mechanisms but these had been taken to their limit, and could no longer fix the alignment problem. He diagnosed the problem, removed the sagging door and reinstalled the hinges and reset the adjustment mechanism to get back to proper alignment. He also reset the adjustment mechanism to allow the doors to be adjusted again if they get out of alignment in the future. Good job at fair price."

"Steven performed several home projects for me including plumbing, painting, ceiling repair, bathroom remodeling which included replacing the floor and installing a sink/vanity. Steven was punctual, friendly, honest and professional. His work was above average. Services were reasonably priced. I would definitely hire Steven for any work needed in the future."

"Walter and Glen at Protect Your Home Group with ADT are the best people to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Several types of deadbolts are available, including single-cylinder, double-cylinder, rim, smart, and electronic deadbolt locks. The most common type found in U.S. homes is the single-cylinder deadbolt, which uses a key on the exterior and a thumb turn on the interior. A double-cylinder deadbolt features two locking mechanisms and requires a key to be operated from both the inside and the outside.

In general, keyless door locks are considered safe, and their security depends on the type and quality of the lock. They cannot be picked like a traditional lock and often include added features like biometric access, PIN codes, and smartphone connectivity, which can make them more secure. However, they are not without risks. Potential vulnerabilities include hacking for Wi-Fi-connected models, battery failure, power outages, and technical malfunctions. To maximize security, it is important to choose a reliable brand, stay on top of software updates, and perform regular maintenance. While the risks are different, keyless locks are not considered more dangerous than traditional locks.

Yes, you should always change your locks after buying a house. Do so as soon as possible after you move in. Otherwise, you won’t know who has working keys to the property, whether they’re spare keys or otherwise. If an intruder gains access to your house with a key, it may not be covered under your homeowners insurance.

The cost-effectiveness of fixing or replacing a door lock depends on the severity of the issue. Repairing a minor problem, such as loose screws or a need for lubrication, is usually cheaper than replacing the entire lock. However, replacing the lock if it is severely damaged, outdated, or lacks security features may be a better long-term investment. New locks often have improved security features, enhancing your property's safety.

Commercial locksmith services range from $75 to $500, depending on the job's complexity, such as key duplication, lock installation, or access control system setup.
