Underground lawn sprinkler installation and service.

"We called MT sprinkler the middle my May stating we needed new timers and heads for our irrigation system. They scheduled us 3 weeks out for install of new timers and heads. Joe came out on the scheduled day and showed up with no new timers and no new heads. He was at our house for 15 minutes and told us we needed new timers and heads, something we already knew and were expecting to be installed that same day. He then left and told us he would call with pricing. He never called so we called again and spoke with an older women who runs the front desk, she quoted us between $300-$400 for what we needed. We then scheduled another appt another 4 weeks out for install. The time finally comes for install at the end of June. 6 weeks after the initial appointment. The install went fine, but we then received a bill for over DOUBLE what we were quoted, and after a few weeks we realized the heads and lines were now actually Leaking. Nothing but problems with this company. Highly DO NOT recommend."

If you do plan to aerate your lawn before seeding, aerate about two days before you plan to start seeding.

The screwdriver test involves trying to push a screwdriver into your lawn. If it goes in easily, you’re likely overwatering and should cut back. If there’s moderate resistance, you have a good watering schedule and soil composition. If there’s a lot of resistance or you can’t get the screwdriver into the soil, you may need to aerate your lawn to reduce compaction and increase your watering schedule.

Don’t pick up dirt after aerating. Even though it's tempting because soil cores are incredibly unsightly, these cores and the dirt they leave behind are ecologically important. This is what keeps your grass looking beautiful and growing healthily. The soil cores need two to three weeks to decompose, but you can swat them with a rake if their natural shape bothers you.

Overseeding after aeration is not always necessary, but it can be highly beneficial, especially for lawns with thin or patchy areas. Aeration creates an optimal environment for new grass seed germination by improving soil contact and reducing competition from thatch. If you aim to thicken your lawn, address bare spots, or introduce a new grass variety, overseeding immediately after aeration can help rejuvenate and enhance your lawn's overall health and appearance. However, whether you overseed or not depends on your specific lawn goals and condition.
