"Not very professional. They didn’t have any equipment; I ended up renting all the equipment on my credit card. At first the wrong equipment was ordered so I ended up paying for a bigger machine. I was charged for an extra day from what I was told. I also ordered concrete for the driveway. He used the machine and the some of the concrete I ordered to fix my neighbor’s entrance way; before he poured my driveway. Also I wasn’t given the information I couldn’t drive on it for 5 days until after they finished. My credit card was charged a couple of months after the job was done. (I did get this straighten out) I paid about $2500.00 over the estimate. The finished product do look good, besides the fact that they tore up my lawn."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

Periodic sealing and cleaning to maintain appearance and integrity.

Annually, or more if located in humid or heavily polluted areas.

You can certainly utilize a pressure washer to effectively clean your garage floor. If you're dealing with oily residue, consider adding a degreaser to the pressure washer solution. Prior to using the pressure washer, make sure to thoroughly sweep the garage floor to eliminate any loose dirt or debris.

Begin the pressure washing process from the back of your garage, which is closest to your home, and work your way towards the front. This ensures that the water and dirt are directed outside. In case you've applied a cleanser or degreaser, it's a good idea to give the floor another pass with clean water using the pressure washer to ensure a thorough rinse.

Not pressure washing your driveway can lead to several consequences that affect both its appearance and its structural integrity over time:

  • Reduced Curb Appeal: A dirty driveway covered in grime, stains, and mildew detracts from your home's overall appearance.

  • Safety Hazards: The buildup of algae, moss, and mildew creates slippery surfaces. When wet, it increases the risk of slips and falls for you, your family, and visitors.

  • Structural Damage: Dirt, debris, and organic growth can trap moisture against the driveway's surface. In colder climates, this moisture can freeze and thaw, leading to cracks and deterioration of the concrete or asphalt.

You can whiten concrete for unsealed and unfinished concrete with a solution or either muriatic acid or bleach and water—but never both. However, if your concrete does have a stain, finish, or polish, keep in mind that these hard chemicals could damage the topcoat. Your best bet otherwise is to power wash outdoor concrete slabs or clean indoor ones with a gentle cleaner such as laundry or dish detergent.
