"Charles did an excellent job in replacing my deteriorating chimney. Not only did he promptly return my call, he came by the same day to assess the problem. He was thorough and professional. He scheduled the work quickly and did a fantastic job. I will be recommending him to all my friends who need Tuckpointing or masonry services. Great job, Charles! Thank you."

"Jason from Quacker's arrived ON TIME to repair the foundation crack. He took a look at it, and told me that it was a minor crack. Jason told me to go to the hardware store and buy a $5.00 tube of caulk and seal it up myself. Instead of charging me for a professional repair that I didn't need, he TOLD ME THE TRUTH and saved me a ton of money! Quacker's has earned my trust. If I need any of the services that they offer, I *will* call them again!"

"Great! The crew was friendly and efficient. Tom is great at communicating in a timely manner and easy to work with. I am so excited about my new landscaping! I really wasn't sure how to rate the price because honestly, I didn't get other bids. I relied on previous reviews and the expectations I had regarding price. It wasn't cheap, but I wanted it done right and I feel like it was."

"To say Bill and his crew are amazing is a huge understatement. Bill not only did an AMAZING job on our pool excavation, he didnâ t miss a beat with he hit solid rock! He and his guys got through an insane amount of rock and our pool placement was still done on time! In addition, he stepped in after some issues occurred with our Pool Contractor and helped to make the situation better. He didnâ t NEED to do this. He had no obligation to do this. He is just a fantastic, honest and fair person who wanted to help. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!"

"I saw them in the neighborhood, so I got their details and they gave me an estimate. They were re-repairing a crack from 20 years ago. They did their work and cleaned up afterward. I waited until after 3 or 4 serious rain storms before this comment. The basement still dry. No seepage through the cracks. I should have called them a long time ago."

"I got bids from 5 contractors. 3 of them backed out immediately and the 4th didn't have good references. Musick had stellar references, stuck with me through the financing process which lasted months and answered all questions and concerns I had. Most of all he had the confidence in himself and his crew to do the job right. My new foundation looks amazing and I can't be happier with the job that they did. Too bad they don't do everything because I'd definitely hire them."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Repairing masonry work in Washington is highly effective and saves resources when you catch deterioration early. Tuckpointing failing mortar joints prevents severe structural cracking and avoids the difficulty of sourcing matching historic brick. Chimney repairs are consistently preferable to complete rebuilds. However, you must fully replace retaining walls that have shifted beyond correctable alignment or basement walls suffering from extensive, repeated flood saturation.

Helpful?

In Washington, masonry work requires consistent upkeep due to the local climate. You must address freeze-thaw damage by tuckpointing mortar joints before winter. The high humidity near the Missouri River causes moss and efflorescence, making regular cleaning and sealing essential. Monitor your brick veneer and foundations for stair-step cracking caused by expanding clay soils. Finally, inspect chimney crowns and flashing annually to prevent serious moisture damage.

Helpful?

When hiring professionals for masonry work in Washington, require proof of general liability and workers' compensation insurance due to high injury risks. Verify the contractor has experience with local clay soils and freeze-thaw weather patterns. For older homes, hire specialists familiar with historic lime-based mortars to prevent severe brick deterioration. Always request and check local references to ensure the contractor delivers reliable, high-quality results in the community.

Helpful?

Homeowners in MO rely on several specialized professionals for masonry work. General contractors handle standard brick and block projects. Chimney specialists focus entirely on tuckpointing, crown repair, and rebuilding. Foundation contractors address basement wall repairs and waterproofing for properties in flood zones. Historic specialists restore pre-WWII structures using specific lime mortars. Finally, hardscape contractors build outdoor living features like patios, walkways, and decorative retaining walls.

Helpful?

New homeowners in MO must prioritize inspecting foundation and basement walls for cracks or moisture intrusion caused by expanding clay soils. You should assess older chimneys for failing crowns and mortar joints to prevent safety hazards. Evaluate retaining walls on sloped lots for leaning or drainage issues. Inspect exterior brick veneer for failing mortar, and check lower-elevation properties near the river for past flood damage.
