"LMJ owner Luis Jimenez was first class. Competent, knowledgeable and lived up to every inch of our agreement. He installed a 20x20 concrete slab and it turned out exactly as I had hoped. On top of it, his crew was awesome. They were polite and went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied. Ontime dependable work."

"Mike was awesome. He showed up on time every day and really accommodated this project for me when another company did not show up to do the job they quoted me on. Highly recommend him for tile jobs both large and small."

Small jobs welcome

"I doubt you will read any bad reviews on this company. Jacob's workers are efficient and seem to enjoy their work. They obviously care about the quality of their work and are very polite on top of that. I give Coastal Flooring an "A" for an excellent job installing my bamboo flooring and for a reasonable price."

"We've used Murphy Construction for 3 years now, on 2 different homes. Everything has been done top notch from complete remodels of garage, home office, flooring, aligning doors, replacing hardware, bathroom remodel, bathroom tiling, kitchen tiling, to roof, doors, outdoor trench and pipe, drywall, painting, electrical, plumbing. What can't they do? Far as I can tell, they can do it all. Estimates are competitive. This is a family business, everyone is easy to deal with, pleasant folks, reliable, and trustworthy. Thomas Murphy has tackled everything for us from huge headache jobs to small niggling projects that we, as homeowners just don't have the experience to do. Can't recommend them enough."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

It’s important to leave a gap in the corner when tiling to allow room for tile expansion. Leaving between one eighth of an inch to one tenth of an inch is enough space.

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.

A quality shower tiling project is a bathroom upgrade that can increase resale value. Bathroom remodels have the highest return on investments for any home update. Tiling a shower won’t offer the potential 70% ROI that a full bathroom remodel involving upgrading fixtures, installing storage, and a complete room retile will. However, you can expect an average return of 55% to 60% for this refresh.

Yes, you can tile over existing shower tiles, but it's better to remove the old tiles first for the best results. Tiling over existing tiles requires a clean, level surface and proper adhesion. If the old tiles are in good condition, you can roughen the surface to improve adhesion. However, removing the old tiles ensures a smoother, longer-lasting finish and prevents potential issues down the line.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.
