"Price - The completed price was much less than we anticipated when we started this project. Due to a Levelor quantity discount (10+ blinds) and also a military discount, the price was a very pleasant surprise. Product Quality - Some of the smaller blinds (Levelor) had two-part wands for rotating the slats. All blinds that had these two-part wands (8) were bent when snapped together. this appears to be a manufacturing issue caused by the plastic coupling piece they use. Sooooooo.... please be aware of this manufacturing defect on some of the smaller Levelor blinds. This only affects those blinds which are two-parts that snap together. This is not an issue with larger blinds that use a one piece wand. When we first went to Lowe's, we were fortunate to run across Jason Sloan, in the window coverings department. He appeared to be very knowledgeable. He took the necessary time to answer all questions and appeared to be quite honest in his discussions with my wife and I. We both felt so much impressed with Jason that we decided we would interface only with Jason for the remainder of this project. Before the project was completed, I had made several more trips to see Jason with further questions and requests. In all, I was amazed at how much time Jason was willing to take with us and am quite sure he was very glad when the project was finally completed. For sure, Jason walked the extra mile with us. Their subcontractor (Rick's Blinds) doing the measurements and installations did a good job. The initial measurements appointment was scheduled and completed with all expectations being met. However, after the blinds had been cut to the required dimensions and picked up, I was told the installer would contact me in the next two days to schedule the installation. After the two days + a weekend, I still had not heard from the installer. After a followup call to Robert Ruby (Lowe's Installed Sales Mgr.), I was called the same morning and the work was scheduled to start within an hour. The installation went very well. Jesse, the installer did a good job. Robert did an outstanding job for us. After my call to him regarding the bent wands issue, he came to my home to take pictures and begin working on an acceptable solution for my wife and I. His first suggestion was to remove the bottom half of the wand and use only the upper half. I was OK with that suggestion as I am 6' 1" tall, but my much shorter wife could not reach two of the blinds due to objects between her and the wand. I advised Robert of this. I proposed that those two-part crooked wands (8) be replaced with a longer single piece wand which they sold in the store. Robert accepted that suggestion and arranged for me to acquire those at no additional cost. This idea worked very well. Throughout the installation and product quality issues, Robert gave the distinct impression that he was willing to do everything necessary to make us happy with our purchase. He succeeded. Everyone at Lowe's did an outstanding job with customer support. I can't say enough good things about Jason and Robert. We consider them as real assets to Lowe's. I would not hesitate to go to Lowe's to have this work done at a future time, if needed."

The Kansas City branch of Premier Roofing is dedicated to serving the restoration roofing needs of single-family homeowners and multi-family communities in the area. When hail or wind causes damage to roofs in our area, we go to the impacted neighborhoods to help homeowners get their roofs restored as quickly as possible. We work with all insurance companies, ensuring the only out of pocket cost to homeowners is their deductible. We are proud to provide quality craftsmanship, straight talk, great customer service and the best workmanship and material warranties in the industry.

"I had Premier come out to replace my composite over shake roof and my gazebo roof. I had insurance to cover the cost. The good: Great quality No complaints for my house. No problems with insurance, Premier took care of it $250 referral reward thanks to Patrick The bad: Had to deal with not know when people came When the came they would leave without me inspecting to work They treated Patrick like a mule. No medical leave. Process started in June and lasted to October Offer $200 of a $15,000 bill (1.33% discount) Premier Problems Before anything happened I had to ask them to erase the chalk they had used to mark damage. First time the roofers came they didn’t know that my roof was composite. They had to return the next day. They left lots of wood in my attic. I had to demand someone to clean it up. They did assign a guy who did a good job. They replaced the gutter covers, but didn’t replace them all (said they were broken with no evidence). Strips did not completely cover the gazebo. One corner was not glued properly. The top of the gazebo lacked the metal around it They came and added the metal top without contacting me They came once to fix the strips and didn’t have any strips. They came a second time with new strips, but left one length of original strip They came by a third time and replaced the last strip and added more tar to the top. Even though the metal casing is not uniform around the top, the tar made it less obvious. There was one tile I had complained about, and finally Patrick climbed the ladder and finished it off. Also discovered late was the brick had been damaged while they did the roof (I think). There are still indentations on the brick and pavement. There is still chalk on my 2nd floor windows, but someone is coming out."

"Insulation guys were great but the windows are horrible. They let cold air in worse than our old windows. We called them and they finally came out and put a little strip of Insulation on them and they still let in cold air and whistle when the wind blows. We have called and left messages and no calls back. I wouldn't recommend Rolox windows to anyone. Paid around 1000$ per window and still cold air comes in. Never again."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Yes, reputable manufacturers typically provide warranties for their roof windows and skylights, and many installers also offer a labor warranty, although labor warranties often don’t last as long as the manufacturer’s warranty. A warranty from a skylight manufacturer is helpful in the event of leaks or other damage down the road on this type of home feature. The length of time and the terms of the warranty may vary, so it's important to review the details before making a purchase.

Pros of installing a skylight include the fact that you will get much more natural light in your home, skylights can make your room look bigger than it actually is, and your home may increase in value. Cons include difficult upkeep (you may have to get on a ladder to clean and maintain them), higher installation costs, and, potentially, too much heat gain from all the extra sunlight.

Costs depend on skylight size, roof type, and additional features like blinds or tinting.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

DIY is not recommended due to roof modifications required. Professional installation ensures proper sealing and structural safety.
