Even though labor day holiday fell in the 2 week period, he had a worker here. All the work was custom and looks as if it was part of the existing now 19 year old home. "A couple weeks after signing the contract, we got a phone call from the company asking for an additional $658. Apparently they made a mistake. A couple days later, they dropped the new increase to $488. We canceled. As a retired salesman, I have made my share of errors, but NEVER would I expect the customer to be punished for them. I suspect now that they really didn’t want a little $5000 job in the first place. To their credit, they promptly and courteously refunded our deposit. That being said, a measure of trust was violated. When a company tries to increase their signed agreement, alarm bells should sound from the consumer. I think this is a fairly good company that has somehow lost its way. I’ve told this story to several business associates, and the unanimous consensus is that this represents a poor business practice, raising suspicions. Others could not believe that Trost would do this, especially since no offer was made to honor the agreement. And that people who know this company quickly defend their honesty. But considering our experience, we cannot recommend them."
