"Cara did a great job! It’s a stained glass window from my grandmother’s old home. She installed a new panel that’s perfect! Nice lady to work with. Use her, you won’t regret it!"

"An incredibly great experience from start to finish.  JD and his crew (thanks Alan, Danny & Tim!) were exceptional in every way.  My husband and I contacted JD for an estimate after developing an interior leak.  JD responded quickly, did a thorough inspection, and identified multiple issues regarding wood rot and hidden water penetration around a number of windows.
My husband and I had always disliked the style of 3 second-story windows and discussed alternatives with JD.  He made some terrific suggestions to create a custom, finished look that also corrected the water issues we had around these windows.  JD also helped us select the right door for a rear garage entrance and went above and beyond to locate the custom glass we wanted to use.
JD and crew performed the work over a period of 10 days and always kept us informed of the progress and next steps.  Daily clean-up was immaculate.  All work went as planned with only a couple of surprises found along the way (hidden wood rot in several spots) that JD didn't charge us for.  The project finished on schedule and the finished results are beautiful.  The custom carpentry that JD did on the upper windows transformed and vastly improved the look of the house.
We feel so lucky to have found JD.  Not only are he and his crew skilled craftsmen but they are the nicest guys as well.  We enjoyed having them at the house.  Will definitely have Wood Rot Solutions handle any further wood, window or door repair we need."

"The project went very well.   Any problems, there were very few, were handled promptly and professionally.  There were different crews that came in and out daily but they were always on time, did what they had to go, cleaned up, and were on their way.  We have no complaints and definitely would use them again.

"I am very lucky that I found Vantage Point Exteriors. They helped me deal with an emergency problem very quickly.
I inadvertently locked myself out on the balcony of my condo two days ago without a cell phone or keys. Unfortunately I had to kick in the glass to get back inside. I needed to get this glass replaced ASAP. After a frustrating experience talking with a few other contractors in the area, I bought an Angie's List account and found Vantage Point.
Matt was quick to respond, and communicated very well throughout the process. The two gentlemen who came out to perform the work were very professional, and even cleaned up several areas of broken glass that I had missed. They worked very quickly and efficiently to replace the glass, and their workmanship was top notch. I also had them replace the door handle, so I can't get locked out again.
Thanks again Vantage Point for the quick response and excellent work."

"I was very pleased.  They were very responsive.  A handyman (Zach) came out right away and hung the blinds, fixed the doors.  Then the owner Doug came and diagnosed my condensation problem and figured out what to do.  Zach came back and opened the wall /insulated the duct, and then closed the holes required.  Zach put on the first coat of mud and the follow up visit was from the drywall specialist Luis.  He made two visits, one to complete the mudding (beautiful work) and a final visit to sand.  Everyone was prompt and professional.  I would use this company again.  The price was fair I thought, especially for the number of things I had done.

"One thing Shawn arranges for is to have a lady come in and clean/dust everything after they are done with dry wall sanding and such. That was a nice bonus.  He also found a spectacular carpet cleaner guy to get out stains and wax tracked in on carpeting. Carpet still looks great!

Shawn has a helper named Mike, and Mike is a hard worker. Mike shows up on time, and works as long as he has to without complaining. Shawn does have sub contractors for dry wall and painting.  His painter (Melbin) does an awesome job, but some of the guys that help Melbin are rather sloppy, leaving paint in sinks and splatters on counters.  Shawn made sure it was all taken care of later on though.  Shawn's dry wall guy (Carlos) knows how to get the job done pretty well, but wasn't very conscientious about making sure surfaces were protected (like floors, carpets, etc) from the dry wall compound, and he dumped the waste down in the street sewer- a big "no-no."
I agree with another reviewer that stated Shawn seems to have a lot of things suddenly "come up" and seems to have too many "irons in the fire." There were several times when Shawn didn't show up when he said he would. Sometimes we would be contacted as to why, other times not.  I think this is common among contractors, unfortunately. They seem to have a whole different concept of time.

Shawn finished the job within a week of our deadline. We had some unexpected add-ons that understandably lengthened the job. "

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.
