"He arrived on time.  Work was completed in less time than they estimated.
The only thing is I wish they would carry drains and overflow covers of various finishes and offer to change them out for you.  My drain looks very old and pitted now that the bathtub is refinished."

"The tech was friendly and got to work right away and the job looked pretty good when he left.
Unfortunately with the other bathroom remodeling I have not used the tub much.  I did spill some tile cleaner on it and it left permanent dots in the finish and I did scrape it with a piece of wood already which shows.  Time will tell how well the refinish will hold up.

"Scheduling was not a problem but I asked them to come back to look at the sink stopper but it was done reluctantly. The price was reasonable.  It was the extra stuff that I didn’t like."

"Understood our needs and limitations in designing an efficient and beautiful closet system, as well as laundry room. Informed us of all our options and made great recommendations. Installed properly and professionally, even installing a laundry cabinet in such a way that we can remove it for future access to servicing washer/dryer without damage to drywall."

"Had Nick Rattini as our technician - great job overall. I wanted to replace our Rheem 40 gallon water heater with a Rheem 50 gallon water heater and Burke Plumbing will let you use customer supplied appliances - up front charge was $640 which is competitive, my assumption is that price includes an extra $100 for using a customer supplied heater. They added another $100 for modifying the existing plumbing to accommodate the larger tank which, in my mind, was reasonable. They showed up on time and the installation took about 2 hours. I had hot water one hour later. All in all, very pleased with the experience from Burke Plumbing which has been around since the 1930s."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Plumbing installation costs in renovations typically range from $300 to $1,500 or more, depending on the complexity and specifics of the project.

Different plumbing problems can cause your P-trap to leak. The biggest problems are loose nuts and misaligned pipes. Over time, your P-trap can leak due to the rush of water moving through the pipes, which in turn loosens the nuts and causes the pipes to fall out of alignment. Other problems include worn rubber O-rings and cracked pipes.

You’ll only need to replace your sink’s pipes when you start to notice signs of wear like corrosion or leaking. Most pipes last somewhere between 20 and 100 years, depending on the material. Copper and cast iron can last up to 100 years. Galvanized steel and brass generally have a 50-year lifespan. PVC pipes last 25 to 40 years.

The best option is to alter the plumbing. Moving and centering the drain pipe behind the sink usually does the trick and creates the sleek, minimalist look that pedestal sinks offer. If you don’t want to do any plumbing work, there are a few decorating hacks:

  • Painting the pipes

  • Placing shelves, plants, or baskets in front of the pipes

  • Adding a sink skirt

Since pedestal sinks are narrow and don’t have a cupboard to conceal pipes, many homeowners change their plumbing to make it less visible. It’s a big reason why installing a pedestal sink is more labor-intensive than other types.
