"John has been our go-to guy for several years now. We live in an early 70s home, and as with all older homes there are repairs that are needed fairly often. From the first time he worked for us, identifying that a leak originated from a roof vent that had been knocked slightly askew in a storm and rain water had gradually seeped down the pipes and terminated above our kitchen cabinets, he has always been prompt, courteous, professional in every way, and just an all around nice guy to work with. And the pricing has always been fair. Since then he has installed a number of appliances and fixed sundry leaks for us. Can't recommend him or his company enough. Give them a try."

"He recommended that the fixtures be installed first before we do the sink. I had a plumber come in, who said we could no longer find any fixtures to fix the sinks. In the end, we decided to buy new sinks, so we never used him."

"Sent photos and got a quote for the work.  It was evident in the photo there was a high surround on the two sides and wallpapered walls.  I was assured it was no problem.
Week 1:  Workman 1 arrived on time (8:30 a.m.) and was quite pleasant.  He assured me the wallpaper would not be a problem, there would be no paint on it, he would paint right to the edge of the sink and all would be protected.  He began on sanding old finish off the sink.  I checked in a couple of times that morning and saw that the surround had not been sanded except in a couple of small places.  During the afternoon, another workman, showed up and did not introduce himself, was in and out a couple of times.  Prior to painting, workman 1 showed me regular masking tape and that it might tear the wallpaper.  I gave him my roll of blue painters tape and was surprised they didn't use a type that would not tear the wallpaper.
The work was completed that afternoon and I was told not to use the sink for 48 hours.  On the third day, I went in to inspect the result.  It looked fine but there was a small line of paint on the wall paper across the front top of the surround.  Then I ran my hand over the surface of the sink and it was rough, like it had been sprinkled with grit before or during the painting process.  Not just on part of the sink but around the bowl, in the bowl, on the surround, everywhere.  I have had a tub and two sinks refinished (not by this company) and the surfaces came out smooth and perfect.  This job was not even close.  I called owner to complain and was told a little bit of grit might have fallen on it while painting and was assured all would be repaired to my satisfaction.  I also asked why was I not warned of a second workman coming and why didn't he introduce himself as he was in my home?  I found that to not be professional behavior at all.
Week 2:  Workman 1 came back, sanded for a while and then said he was ready to leave.  I asked about the repainting and he said he had to do more sanding than expected and any painting hadn't been scheduled.  I asked when it could be done and we set a date and he left.
No call from the owner.
Week 3:  Waited a week and workman 3 showed up.  He was very cordial, set to work, sanded and painted.  I looked it over and it looked good.  I waited 48 hours and went to check on the sink.  Better than first time on the flat surface around the bowl.  Then I checked the bowl and it was rough.  i checked the surround and it was rough.  I checked on the bottom and side facings and it was rough.   Basically, it was a crap job but I was stuck with it.  I am very unhappy with the service provided by this company and I would not recommend them to anyone!
No call from owner regarding quality of work but a message to pay the bill.
You might wonder why I didn't use the same company that did the tub and two sinks and I would have but that company no longer exists.  I went to Angie's List to get a reputable company to do the work and didn't find it there.

"I had another plumber check my leak under the kitchen sink and I was told that I needed a new gabage disposal. I bought the garbage disposal and they installed it. A month later- same leak. J&E came out and said they barely screwed the disposal in- which is why it was leaking. Lesson learned, don't use a provider not on Angie's List!!!!"

"There were both good things and bad things about replacing a shower with Signature. The design phase went very well. The designer was helpful in narrowing down ideas and providing feedback while still allowing me to make the final choice. It was for help with design that I initially chose to use Signature. I also knew I would pay a little more for that service. However, after all the initial choices were laid out, some things started to go wrong. First, during install, four holes were accidentally poked all the way through the wall into the connecting room. While the holes were repaired by spackling and sanding over, I was now faced with having to repaint at a minimum a whole wall and possibly an entire master bedroom since the previous home owner did not leave any matching paint. Also after installation was done, I found some unused grout had been dumped at the side of my house by the garage instead of being disposed of properly. The real problem happened several months after the install. The entire faucet apparatus became loose from the wall. I called Signature to report the problem and after a couple weeks they finally sent out the original installer to fix it. It was tightened for a while, but again came loose after a few months. I again reported the problem to Signature and my designer but this time they did not contact me to take care of the problem. I ended up having to pay money to have a regular plumber come and take a look at it. They quickly identified that part of the valve must have broken during installation and instead of having a proper fix when the wall was open, a cheap jerry-built solution was attempted to be used not only on the original install (possibly tried to glue with silicone) but on the first re-fix as well. The plumber even found a drywall anchor used as part of the incorrect fix attempt. Long story short is the design and materials are good, but beware that customer service after the sale is terrible and your might be responsible for paying more for someone else to come fix their mistakes. I understand things rarely go perfect, but if they had owned up to their mistakes and fixed them properly, I would have considered using them again, albeit with a different installer who does not take shortcuts."

"First, Bob stopped by with an estimate at the agreed upon time. Then, within a few days we scheduled the work.  He arrived on time and started right away. He worked with the back porch ceiling fan light first. This very old fixture was ancient however Bob took the time to disassemble and installed the new ceiling fan. He is very meticulous at his job. Then, he worked with installing track lighting in the dining room area.  The track lighting is beautiful too.  Lastly, he worked with replacing the back porch light located outside.  He had to use an extension ladder to reach the light.  He completed all jobs within about couple hours.  Bob was very personable and professional.  He remained focused with the jobs. He is skilled at his job.
Bob did a terrific job! Great job!  We will hire Bob again in the future.

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Any drain in your house requires a water trap to prevent sewer gases from entering the home. Dishwashers don’t have an internal water trap, so they must use an external P trap. The most convenient P trap for the dishwasher is already in the plumbing under your sink.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a leaky faucet that’s dripping at a rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water per year. This is one reason why it’s important to fix a leaky faucet sooner rather than later.

Yes, you can install a farmhouse sink on an existing countertop—but there are some caveats. You’ll need to precisely measure. It’s best to choose a sink that’s the same dimensions as your existing sink, since your contractor won’t have to cut the countertop. Otherwise, pay close attention to the depth of your counter (the front to back measurement). You don’t want to install something that’s so big it sticks out beyond your countertop and cabinetry.

Yes, if you live in a climate with extended periods of frost or snow, it’s best to winterize the sink and avoid potential bursting. Similar to winterizing a garden hose, turn off your water from the source. Once turned off, open the faucet so the remaining water completely drains out. You can also pour a small amount of antifreeze down the sink drain so any trapped water won’t freeze.

Natural stone stinks require sealing before installation because they have a porous surface susceptible to staining and damage. Quartz is much denser than natural stone, making it non-porous and resistant to stains or absorption. Because quartz is a composite material, it doesn’t need to be sealed before daily use.
