"Excellent job. Al quickly isolated the issue to a clogged pilot light and repaired. He was meticulous in cleaning, properly arranging the gas logs and leaving the fireplace looking like new. He also advised me on our other gas fireplace which was very much appreciated."

"
Both times that I've had JD and his Crew here,  I have been pleased with everything about their service.  They are timely, professional, perform exellent work, and leave a clean work site.   (He even cleaned the adjoining window to the one worked on.)    After two experiences with JD,  I'll  Contact him anytime I need window/door, or any related wood type repair.  And Would recommend his services to anyone."

"It's a pretty decent system, I think. They send you the pieces and you install them yourself, which is pretty easy. The only real problem I have is that one sensor is too far away from the panel...or there's some interference, and they haven't been able to fix that. It's an interior door, so it's not the end of the world, just a little annoying. Their customer service is pretty good though. Nice, smart customer service people on the other end, very polite and helpful."

"Guys were great, Our Sunroom moved up and down depending on the season and we were having troubles both with cracks on the walls, opening and closing windows and troubles with getting the door shut. i saw the crack virtually disappear and the door and windows open and close easily. I did have to add 2 wooden posts as once the bottoms were dung up were pretty rotten. Guys did a great job cleaning up afterwards laying some seed down and hay over it."

"These are frameless cabinets so there is no tolerance for error. Although he had not made them, he installed them perfectly! The important thing is, he COULD HAVE easily made them. His attention to detail and level of craftsmanship is amazing.  We then hired him to make a walnut bar for our basement, and it turned out wonderful too! We HIGHLY recommend Dennis!!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Some people don’t like the look of gas fireplaces since they don’t offer the classic charm or appeal of a wood-burning fire. Plus, gas fireplace installation is more expensive than other types of fireplace installations due to the added complexity of working with gas lines. There’s also a chance that gas could get into your home, which is a major health and safety risk.

If you would rather use vinegar to clean the stone fireplace instead of dish soap, this mixture should work fine. Vinegar is slightly acidic, however, so it may etch some kinds of stone without quite a bit of diluting. For a stone fireplace, dilute it to about one cup of vinegar for every gallon of hot water. It’s a smart idea to test the diluted mixture in an inconspicuous area of the fireplace and watch for etching. You can use vinegar to clean quite a few different items around your home, and it’s especially good at removing stains.

Having a pellet stove can indeed raise your insurance rates since they're a relatively common cause of fires in the home. However, rate increases vary by insurance provider so you should reach out to yours to determine exactly how much your rates might increase with a new pellet stove install.

Some homes with wood-burning fireplaces don't have ash pits due to design choices, construction practices, or the age of the house. Many older abodes don't have them because ash pits weren't a standard feature when they were built. Additionally, in smaller homes or homes with less frequent fireplace use, builders might have opted to forgo an ash pit to reduce costs or simplify maintenance.

You should only use water to put out a fire in your fireplace in an emergency situation. Even then, it is better to use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire quickly. Make sure every room in your house that has a fireplace also has a fire extinguisher—and that everyone in your household knows how to use one.
